Project Idea
Title: Fauna and vegetative of city reservoirs and watercurrents condition estimation for the purpose of recreational
and tourist areas development in cities.
Problem to be addressed:
In recent years the question of biological variety studying
and preservation in the most transformed territories by a
human-being, among which the urbanized landscapes take
a special position. Growing recreational and tourist loading
aggravates the conflict of nature protection activity and
progress of a civilization. One of the most attractive tourist
objects are water-currents and reservoirs. However, in
Belarus and the adjacent states they are paid not enough
attention in comparison with the other types of water
objects, especially in the urbanized territories. Cities are
key objects of tourism and recreation that creates the social
order for creation of town-planning rational system
including accommodation and preservation of such natural
complexes like water objects. These reasons reflect the
urgency of the city territories reservoirs and water-currents
research in Belarus.
The aim of the project is a complex estimation of fauna and
vegetative condition and also development of ecological
specifications on reservoirs and water-currents elaboration
for recreational and tourist areas development in cities.
Expected results:
The concept of stable use of city water biota will be
developed. It is supposed to receive a new knowledge of
water and around water biota formation within urbanization
conditions. It will form a basis for the assessment of water
environmental quality and tourist and recreational potential,
also it will bring the contribution into town-planning theory.
Practical recommendations on rational use of water objects
under recreational and tourist loadings.
The results of the project can be used in town-designing
(inhabited and industrial building, transport ways,
recreational zones planning), wildlife management (micro
reserve, ecological corridors creation), in tourist business
(tourist routes planning, ecological tracks and viewing
places creation).
