Project idea form Name Yanchurevich Olga, PhD (Biology) Organisation Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Belarus Project Idea Title: Fauna and vegetative of city reservoirs and watercurrents condition estimation for the purpose of recreational and tourist areas development in cities. Problem to be addressed: In recent years the question of biological variety studying and preservation in the most transformed territories by a human-being, among which the urbanized landscapes take a special position. Growing recreational and tourist loading aggravates the conflict of nature protection activity and progress of a civilization. One of the most attractive tourist objects are water-currents and reservoirs. However, in Belarus and the adjacent states they are paid not enough attention in comparison with the other types of water objects, especially in the urbanized territories. Cities are key objects of tourism and recreation that creates the social order for creation of town-planning rational system including accommodation and preservation of such natural complexes like water objects. These reasons reflect the urgency of the city territories reservoirs and water-currents research in Belarus. The aim of the project is a complex estimation of fauna and vegetative condition and also development of ecological specifications on reservoirs and water-currents elaboration for recreational and tourist areas development in cities. Expected results: The concept of stable use of city water biota will be developed. It is supposed to receive a new knowledge of water and around water biota formation within urbanization conditions. It will form a basis for the assessment of water environmental quality and tourist and recreational potential, also it will bring the contribution into town-planning theory. Practical recommendations on rational use of water objects under recreational and tourist loadings. The results of the project can be used in town-designing (inhabited and industrial building, transport ways, recreational zones planning), wildlife management (micro reserve, ecological corridors creation), in tourist business (tourist routes planning, ecological tracks and viewing places creation).
