RESEARCH NARRATIVE:
My research focuses on quantifying the amount of water stored in mountain snowpack, and the
physical process governing the transition of snowmelt to surface and groundwater. I approach
these questions by integrating field-based measurements, computational models, and spatial
analysis. Snow can vary considerably across time and space, and employing multiple techniques
allows me to frame my research at local to regional scales. Stepping outside the research
community, I have first-hand experience working directly with natural resource managers, social
scientists, educators, and the public to help distill scientific insights into an applied
understanding of cryosphere’s role in science and society.
