Current
situation
and problems
T
he global economy is constantly growing. It is
estimated that from 2015 until 2050, the economy is
going to expand fourfold. It may even be 10 times larger in
developing countries such as China and India.
This is directly related with an improvement in the
population’s quality of life and undoubtedly with an increase
in energy consumption.
To tackle this situation, first it is necessary to identify the
largest number of possible locations to drill and extract the
raw materials necessary to supply energy.
Second, the network or infrastructure managing and
distributing this energy has to significantly improve from the
perspective of the end user, together with the functions it
should perform.
In 2050, a 70% increase in the oil demand is predicted,
together with a 130% increase in CO2 emissions. Therefore,
the efficiency of the energy supply and consumption, as well
as emissions control are all basic requirements.
In addition, companies from the energy sector operate in
globalized markets so they have to respond in real time given
the volatility of oil prices, regulations, efficiency programs and
carbon taxes, not to mention growing competition.
Emerging technologies can provide new and advanced
measurement capabilities to help predict demand, deduce
usage patterns and avoid power outages. By using Big Data,
energy administration systems can truly take advantage
of data. Big Data tools offer highly intelligent and precise
meters, alerts and graphics with the capacity to manage large
volumes of information at unprecedented speeds.
Hence, nowadays it is important for all this data being
generated to be correctly sent, stored and handled by the
leading tools in order to obtain the best indicators, which will
help your company position itself ahead of the competition,
while also strengthening your clients’ trust.

L
ogtrust is a Big Data tool in the cloud. It can extract
all this information from any data source and correctly
send, store and handle it to show indicators, alerts and
dashboards. All in real time and with no storage limits.
Thanks to the data, it can transform a rigid analogue
system network into an intelligent, dynamic and automated
administration system, which will help you better understand
price fluctuations and energy consumption profiles, while
improving distribution and fraud detection services. All in all, it
will improve customer service and increase profitability.

Solution
An example: collecting and analyzing seismic, magnetic
and topographic data provides essential information for
exploring and exploiting natural resources. Given the difficulty
of locating these resources, it is important to have access
to sensors and data sets with detection and exact location
capabilities.
Logtrust is not only able to store and manage this data; it also
has display tools to help you understand it.
More examples: data analysis allows you to identify the
demand over a set period and adjust the generator capability
accordingly, as well as to predict overloads. This brings
significant savings and more sustainable growth. It also points
to the most convenient investment areas.
With Logtrust, you can monitor the network status and
performance thanks to tailor-made reports and dashboards.
Complying with environmental regulations is much easier
if you can control all the data on harmful emissions. The
Logtrust engine analyses the key variables of your systems
and applications to obtain information on their development.
Subsequently, our system detects any deviations in these
variables and sends alerts in real time; for example, when
CO2 emissions are above the permitted levels.

Using data in this way means productivity gains, as it allows
for operational improvements that lead to better economic
margins.

Conclusions
In addition, Logtrust tags and organizes all your data,
regardless of the source. All in real time.
S
ome examples of what Big Data management with
Logtrust can provide:
For companies:
• Regulation of renewable/traditional energy according
to wind, storm, sun, drought, etc. measurements.
• Prevention of circumstantial peaks in consumption
during heat waves or cold spells.
• Geolocation: consumption statistics per region,
electricity network regulation and energy type
according to the population and consumption.
• Use a single platform to cover all your security,
monitoring and Big Data analytics needs.
• Historical data comparison for inhabitants, homes,
companies, businesses, times of year, use of renewable/
traditional energy sources, CO2 emissions, cost per kW,
etc.
• Anticipation and prediction: determine which is the
best energy type to look into according to the cost/
consumption and perception and natural resource use.
How do prices affect the demand and vice versa?
4
For users:
• Possibility to view consumption details in real time.
• Display the differences in consumption when turning
the air-conditioning or heating up (electric or air), or
make comparisons after increasing electronic devices in
the home/company.
• Promote the installation of clean energy devices.
• Historical comparison of CO2 emissions.
• Possibility to offer much more accurate and fine-tuned
consumption good practice guides thanks to having
such a large quantity of information
• Identify possibilities for renewable energy use according
to the region, consumption, meteorology, type of use,
etc.
By improving user experience, we also improve the
company’s profits.
Don’t base your decisions on perceptions. The Logtrust
platform collects real data and, applying operational
intelligence, it performs an exhaustive analysis in real time,
advanced alert management and long-term trend prediction.
