On Earth Day and Every Day, Iowa American Water Remains
Committed to Protecting the Environment
DAVENPORT, IA (April 21, 2017) – In recognition of Earth Day 2017, Iowa American Water is affirming its
commitment to environmental education that can lead to positive action. Programs like the annual
Environmental Grant Program offering funding for innovative, community-based environmental projects that
improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and groundwater supplies in local communities, along
with larger ongoing investments in water infrastructure, are just some of the many ways that Iowa American
Water works to involve and communicate with customers regarding our most precious resource.
“We work hard every day to ensure the highest standards for our customers, and that includes building an
understanding and a dialogue with them around environmental education and how together we can act in
defense of the planet on a local level,” added Mary Jane Midgett, director of operations. “For our part, over the
past three years, Iowa American Water has invested over $38 million in improvements to replace or upgrade
water infrastructure, fix leaks and provide clean, safe, reliable water to our customers, which also leads to
increased job creation.”
Encouraging customers to take part on an individual level is also important. One easy way to reduce paper
usage is by signing up and using the features of the online “My Account” program. Along with paperless billing,
the 24-hour My Account customer account management site gives customers the opportunity to take care of
some of the most common reasons they need to access their accounts, from checking balances and paying
bills to reviewing past water usage and scheduling appointments for some service items.
“We are dedicated to making it easy for customers to do business with Iowa American Water, and we believe
these services will provide our customers with more convenient access and better account service,” said
Midgett. “Whether it is Earth Day, or any other day, we understand that there are many steps, both big and
small, that can help have a positive impact on our planet.”
