LEWIS ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Three Decades of Award-Winning Environmental Services
Our planet's complex environmental laws create a demand for the advice of consulting
biologists and ecologists who can understand the natural systems involved, as well as the
realities of management and restoration. Robin Lewis provides those skills.
Mr. Lewis was among the first in the U.S. to successfully restore damaged wetlands, and
has been leading the vanguard of progress in habitat restoration and creation for more
than 20 years. To date, Mr. Lewis has designed more than 125 completed wetland
restoration or creation projects in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin
Islands. He has earned a well-deserved reputation among his peers as a leader in
ecosystem management and restoration, and has presented invited papers on these
subjects in the U.S., France, Spain, Mexico, Australia, New Guinea and a number of
Caribbean, Central and South American Countries. His work has been featured in articles
in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The Orlando Sentinel.
Dedication to excellence is a hallmark of Lewis Environmental Services. From habitat
restoration to permitting, mitigation, environmental impact studies and legal testimony,
Lewis Environmental provides innovative, cost-effective and timely solutions to
environmental challenges.
For three decades, Robin Lewis has set a standard of quality and commitment that has
earned the respect of clients, regulators and colleagues alike.

A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE
Lewis Environmental Services (LES) has extensive experience in all aspects of
environmental management and permitting, including:
PERMIT APPLICATION ASSISTANCE
We work with current federal, state and local environmental regulations on a daily basis.
Because of this knowledge, we can expedite permitting of complex projects by
submitting acceptable mitigation plans concurrently with permit applications. We are
often asked to negotiate revisions to mitigation plans that result in less expensive and
more successful alternatives.
HABITAT RESTORATION
LES has designed, implemented and monitored more than 125 wetland
mitigation/creation projects, ranging in size from less than a half-acre to more than 600
acres. We have successfully relocated submerged seagrasses at more than 20 sites,
created mangrove forests at individual locations as large as 150 acres, and restored
estuarine tidal marshes and upland habitats across North America and the Caribbean.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS
Our staff is highly skilled at conducting field reviews to locate sensitive wetland and
upland habitats, and to determine the presence or potential occurrence of protected
species. Our surveys have assessed the population and distribution of Lower Keys marsh
rabbits, gopher tortoises, red-cockaded woodpeckers, yellow-shouldered blackbirds,
burrowing owls and sandhill cranes. Based on our findings and production of detailed
CADD-based maps, we have prepared acceptable design alternatives to minimize
disturbance to these species and their habitats.
MITIGATION BANKING
LES has participated in several major mitigation banking studies, and is actively involved
in advising international, national and state agencies on the development of mitigation
banking guidelines. Clients for these services include the National Audubon Society and
Argonne National Laboratory (in conjunction with a study conducted for the American
Petroleum Institute).
EXPERT WITNESS TESTIMONY and EXHIBIT PREPARATION
The staff of Lewis Environmental has been recognized by federal and state courts as
expert witnesses on the subjects of wetland restoration, mitigation, and development-
related impacts to wetlands. We work with our clients to prepare our own court exhibits,
including mounted and labeled ground-level and aerial photography.
EXOTIC PLANT MANAGEMENT
LES has been involved with the removal and control of exotic and nuisance plants for 15
years. Our expertise has been applied to the removal of Brazilian pepper, melaleuca and
Australian pine throughout Florida. A recent control program was conducted on a
mixture of these species on 92 acres within a sensitive aquatic habitat in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, known as Pond Apple Slough.
