Navigation Light System, LED, NVG Compliant
Consolite Technology has applied its deep understanding of warship night vision goggle (NVG) lighting
requirements to develop a suite of LED navigation lights. Uniquely they are NVG compliant to the latest standards
whilst being MED certified and retaining full compliance with the COLREG international legal requirements for
intensity distribution and colour.
A range of voltage options are available, including 24V DC, 115V AC and 230V AC units, permitting retrofit within
existing systems. Alternatively, a complete system can be supplied using current driven lights, and including a
touch screen control panel. The latter approach permits greater advantage to be gained from the benefits of LED
lights, with full functionality.

Navigation Lights
Individual lights are of robust metal and glass construction and are sealed to IP68. Optional anti-vibration mounts
can be supplied.
COLREG regulated lights are duplex, meaning they have dual LED circuits such that if one fails the reserve circuit
can automatically take over.
All lights have controlled spectral output, using rigorously designed and tested optical filters, to provide the
optimum level of NVG compatibility. This is carefully controlled to provide the optimum balance between visibility
to approaching aircrew and compatibility to avoid affecting NVG performance, all in accordance with UK Def Stan

Control System
The interface is via a rugged console mounted touch screen tablet PC. It is housed in a cast aluminium, chassis
and is sealed to IP67. The screen brightness automatically adjusts to ambient conditions.
The software provides independent control of every light, with mimics and tables to show the status. Groups of
lights can also be established to operate different navigation modes. Alarms are provided for communications
status, power input and light condition.
A separate control unit is housed remotely. The system runs from either 230V AC or 115V AC, and provides DC
current to lights to permit full dimming control. In the event of an LED failure in any duplex light the second LED
circuit automatically takes over, alerting the user to the failure. Likewise, after 50,000 hours operation of a duplex
light the second circuit is automatically activated to ensure continued operation at the required output.
