NIM Transportation, L.L.C. Truck Driver Position Overview About the Company: Norfolk Iron and Metal was founded in 1908 by John Robinson, the grandfather of the current president, Dick Robinson. NIM Transportation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Norfolk Iron and Metal. NIM Transportation was formed in February of 2004 to service our customers without relying on a third party carrier. Norfolk Iron and Metals main business is the sale of new carbon steel products. We also offer steel processing such as shearing, breaking, sawing, burning, punching and rolling steel products of all kinds. In 2004 the company purchased it’s first laser for the cutting of steel plate and sheet. Corporate headquarters are located at the Norfolk, Nebraska facility. We have other facilities in Emporia, Kansas and Greeley, Colorado, which gives the company a very large presence in the upper plain states. This company is constantly looking for new ways to expand and grow within the industry. As of August 2004 we took delivery of new tractors and trailers with a value of 9 million dollars. This has been a very large commitment for the company to assure our drivers have some of the finest equipment in the industry. About the Job: We deliver steel products on flatbed trailers. The steel is of every size and shape. All drivers must have current Class A CDL License. Drivers must meet all DOT and NIM Transportation employment qualifications. Drivers will secure loads with straps, chains, and other securement devises as needed to comply with company and DOT regulations. All steel loads will be tarped or otherwise protected from getting wet. The company requires that driver’s logs are completed in strict compliance with DOT regulations. Drivers are required to assist in the unloading of the load, when needed, at customer locations. Drivers may also be needed to assist in loading their trailer for backhauls. Most drivers are home each day. There are some runs that require being out overnight one or two nights a week. Current tractors are 2005 Freightliner Columbia’s with 450 HP and 10 speed transmission with sleepers. Pay and Benefits Pay package is based on miles driven per trip, delivery stops per trip and any pickup stops taken each trip. Drivers are paid by the hour when they qualify for detention. Mileages are calculated by hub miles. All drivers should have no trouble earning $40-$50K per year.
