The Sumerians figured out how to control the
water of the river with levees and canals/ditches,
then they invented the plow to make farming
easier. With these advances, the population
started growing into large villages/cities, and they
needed fewer farmers. So people could do other
jobs. With other jobs and more people comes the
need for rules/laws and a government =
civilization.
