Active travel Case Study AT 8 Make Your Move Kirkcaldy This document provides case studies taken from a range of settings, from community based projects to workplaces across Scotland. A growing number of employers and communities are investing in active travel initiatives and experiencing the benefits of a healthier and happier workforce. The case studies are intended to provide ideas and to help you benefit from existing experience. Contact details are given, so that you can get in touch with projects directly to find out more. Make Your Move Kirkcaldy Action taken Make Your Move Kirkcaldy launched in 2011 as a partnership between Fife Council and Sustrans to increase the number of journeys taken by bike and on foot, as well as by public transport. Location Kirkcaldy, Fife Fife Council’s Local Transport Strategy prioritises walking and cycling for short trips. Sustrans wants governments across the UK to make investments to double the number of journeys under five miles made by foot, bike and public transport to four out of five by 2020. A Scottish Government vision of having 10% of all trips made by bike by 2020 was also taken into account. This case study is part of a set which have been developed to help encourage active travel initiatives across the CSGN area. They have been co-ordinated by Paths for All with financial support from Scottish Natural Heritage.
