Summary
Are you passionate about video games? Want to be part of a multi-million pound industry? Then Video Games
Development could be for you. This exciting course will explore 3D modelling, game design, video games
engines and project management. This is a challenging course, and a dedicated attitude to study is
paramount.
What are the course aims?
What can it lead to?
The video games industry is now bigger than
Hollywood, so whether you play XBox, Playstation, PC
or your phone, this is the course to help you gain
employment or Higher Education in the video game
industry.
The course will give you the skills to make your own
indie video games and give you the confidence to
seek employment in this tough business. However,
most of our students progress to university where
they specialise in a video games discipline.
What will I study on this course?
This is a practical creative course designed for people interested in video games or a career in the games industry.
It is a 180-credit Extended Diploma and will be the equivalent of three full A Levels over two years.
This course is for people who not only have an enthusiasm for playing games but, more importantly, want to create
games of their own. This is an exciting subject but a dedicated attitude is very important.
You will study 3D Modelling, Digital Graphics, Computer Game Engines and Project Management, among
many other topics.
Are there opportunities for trips or fieldwork?
These will be offered to learners throughout the course.

How will I be assessed?
What are the entry requirements?
Through a range of creative assessment methods.
Units are graded as pass, merit or distinction.
Minimum grade C in five GCSEs, including English
Language and Maths. A passion for video games
and a desire to know how they work and the
discipline to learn new skills is needed.
