1.0 │Overview
There are several operative costs in the Shark Group
which will be looked at and explained in this presentation
regarding:

Advertising Costs

Translation Costs

PLA Costs
It is vital that we calculate the cost into our customer projects
when we initially establish the calculation. So in the end, if you
planned well, it is a cost that runs through from the client to the
company. In the following slides we will explain how and when
and why we charge these costs for the support we deliver to the
Partners in their projects.

2.0 │Advertising Costs
Any positions Shark is recruiting for is currently being advertised on several
platforms which do naturally entail costs. These costs are partially covered by
Shark itself and the Partners. The partner has to calculate the cost into his project.
Regardless if he did we charge for those cost as they are project and placement
related.
Platforms currently being used to advertise are:

Shark Web Site

Experteer

Linkedin

Xing

Viadeo

Facebook

Twitter
These costs do not only consist of certain accounts we have opened on the
mentioned platforms but also do they consist of the operation of these performed
by all HQ employees.

2.1 │Advertising Cost
Every time a new job is advertised on the web site etc. four units of advertising will be added to the project automatically. Four because
we advertise the job description on multiple platforms. Bare also in mind as a shareholder of the company that active live vacant
positions on the internet is the best marketing for us and to gather candidates in our database.
What is and how much is one unit [example]?
Retained Based Project:
 Four units of advertising consist of posting the job on the web site and all other platforms the Shark HQ is using. One unit of whichever kind is
always charged at a rate of GBP100. So four units would be GBP400.
 The cost of the units will be deducted from the initial invoice to the client.
Success Based Project:
 Pre-payment of 2 units for one platform and 4 units of all platforms. The payment is immediately due.
Advertisement Cost - Please note:
Partner have to calculate a minimum of full advertisement - so 4 units - into their projects to ensure that through the course of the project we can
advertise as needed. Either multiple locations or multiple times in order to have room to maneuver in an ongoing POT. The costs will only be
deducted from the commission once Shark has received money from the customer. The partner must include the units of advertising in their
Partner invoice to Shark. The costs will be split between the participating Partners and the company.

3.0 │Translation Costs
Shark is offering a translation service that can easily be used by sending an email to [email protected]. We offer to
translate the following documents: CRQF, Salary & Market analysis, JD, CEFs etc., if your clients would like to have them in their
mother tongue. All translation we support have a turnaround time of 48 hours.
Every document in the database has to be entered in English and from their we would let the translation service start. We need an
all global English database and project base as this is the most vital element of a global company and benefit to our clients.
 Usually, the translation of a document depends on the length and difficulty of the translation but should normally be completed within
two working days. In cases where translations take longer, the Partner will be informed as soon as possible.
Retained-Based-Project:
 Partner have to calculate translational services by default with 5 Units into a project to ensure that there are no reasons why
documents for clients should not be translated and that the costs are covered by the project.
Success-Based-Project:
 The amount of units necessary for the requested amount of translation will be charged and invoiced immediately to the partner.
 The translational cost need to be paid upfront. One unit per document.

3.1 │Translational costs for the Partner?
Every time a Partner sends an Email to [email protected] requesting a translation, one unit of
translation costs will be added to the project. If several documents relating to only one project have to be
translated, the number of translation units will increase accordingly.
Example:
 POT1234 requires the translation of one job description, one CRQF and one SPDP > three translated documents will be charged at
three units of translation.
What is and how much is one unit?
 One unit of translation covers the translation of one single document. Again, the cost for one unit is GBP100.
Please note:
Calculate a minimum of 5 units into your project to ensure that any document can be translated and has no further impact on the
profit of the project. Bear in mind that sometimes candidates need to be presented in the client’s native language. The costs will
only be deducted from the commission once Shark has received money [applies only to retained-based client contracts] from the
customer. The partner must include all units of translation in their Partner invoice to Shark. The costs will be split between the
participating Partners and the company.

4.0 │PLA Service “At-a-Glance”
The PLA team endeavor to produce efficient, quick and accurate results to do this they will:

 Weekly Project Status & Development calls
 Search on Experteer, Viadeo, Xing, LinkedIn and e-shark platform
 Post the job in groups and statuses via Facebook and twitter
 Post adverts (where applicable) into universities
 Give a weekly update on e-shark of what research they have done i.e. how many people they have contacted, how
many positive/negative responses they have received. (please see field “PLA Feedback” in the POT)
 PLA will send the prequalification questions to potential candidates, they will also assess the reply. If unsure, partners
will be contacted immediately.

4.1 │PLA Support & Cost
From FY2013 Q3, any position a Partner is recruiting for has a default amount of units for PLA as laid out below. The partner should
calculate at least 30 units of PLA into their projects to ensure he / she has always enough resources available for his project if needed.
We had cases where the first round of candidates did not make it and additional PLA support was needed. This is a recommendation
which will, ultimately, allow you to add more PLA support without having an impact on the profit. The minimum default in the calculation
sheet is 10 units which has to be followed by every partner. It is important to consider the fact that there are on-going costs at the
Shark HQ for the continuous operation of PLA!
Request PLA support:
 In order for PLA to start working on your project after creation on e-shark please make sure that the project lead contacts PLA directly on
[email protected] in order to prepare everything necessary before the first kick-off call.
 It is necessary to consider that PLA work on projects in order of announcement by the partners. Non-success-based projects will have priority over
success-based projects. If the team decides to have more support from PLA they have to book an additional 5Units .
 The PLA Manager decides which PLA resource will be put on the project.
Please note: The new calculation sheet has a minimum default of 10 units. In case you are using an old sheet please update it manually or
download the new calculation form. Note: we will have to deduct the units whether or not they were included in your calculation.

4.2 │PLA Support & Cost
The minimum amount of units we deduct per project at any given time depends on how the project is setup with the client and will be described below.
Retained-based business that is typically set up with a 40% payment when signing the contract with us, 30% when the short list provided to the client and
the final 30% when the candidate is placed is the best business for the Partners, the project members and the company. It makes a project plan reliable
and, as work progresses, all parties and resources are covered. It is the right commitment level from the client by making this investment up front. As
shareholders of the company your focus should be signing retained-based business at all times. Also, if a client at any stage would cancel the project
after signing we always have ensured that all cost and the initial work of the GAP analysis was covered.
General Terms:
I.
Retained-based business has always priority over success-based business
II.
Success based business:
III.
I.
5 units PLA support given and will be invoiced at the beginning of the POT [min of 5 units will always be charged].
II.
Deducted from the success-based project or the next project not later than 60 days.
III.
Any unit after the 5 unites that the partner wants will be invoiced and has to be paid upfront by the partner [min of 5 units].
IV.
Rules apply from the moment published under the T&Cs of the company intranet.
V.
Success-based contracts will be phased out end of FY013. After that Shark will not accept them any more.
Retained Based Business:
I.
10 units will be the minimum default amount in the customer project calculation sheet and the minimum units charged in POT.
II.
After units are used the team will be notified and has to decide if they order the next units in minimum bundles of 5 units.

4.4 │PLA Costs for Partner
Please note: The costs will only be deducted from the commission once Shark
has received money from the customer.*
What does this mean for the Partner?
 PLA costs will be shared by all team members and the corporation
 Partners only pay for the proportion of commission they received from the project revenue. So
the risk of failure remains with the company.
Example:
One unit of research costs GBP100. In a project with split commission between project
lead and candidate lead a partner pays for 62% of their share of the GBP100.
GBP100 x 50% x 62% = GBP31 for one unit of PLA
*It is the project lead’s responsibility to contact PLA before the start of the project. Please note that
5.0 units of PLA time will be added to each project by default. Any unused PLA time allocation will
still be deducted once Shark received money from the customer.

5.0 │CEF Proofreading
The HQ offers a proofreading service for CEFs [Candidate Evaluation Forms] for Shark Executive
Search projects only.
This will include general proof and spell-checking. This is to ensure a high and consistent quality for
all outgoing SES CEFs.
We expect Partners to formulate their CEFs well and to the best of their abilities.
For each SES CEF we will add 2 units to the project.
What is and how much is one unit?
 The cost for one unit is GBP100. When we add 2 units to your project, this means GBP200.
What about CEFs for Shark Human Capital Placement?
 Unfortunately, we do not support this service for HCP CEFs. However, there is always the option
of Partners proofreading each others CEFs/updates.
