That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life -the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us -that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (John 1: 31 – 33) Few Important Questions 1- Do we as preachers touch, see, hear, live with, and talk to God?? For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well" (Mat 9 : 21) Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. So I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all things which are appointed for you to do.’(Acts 22: 9, 10) Few Important Questions 1- Do we as preachers touch, see, hear, live with, and talk to God?? Then he said, ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. 15 For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.(Acts 22: 14, 15) Few Important Questions 1- Do we as preachers touch, see, hear, live with, and talk to God?? Patristic Tradition The Patristic Tradition The Church’s Thoughts The Fathers’ Experience & Knowledge Few Important Questions 1- Do we as preachers touch, see, hear, live with, and talk to God?? "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let [Him] go (Act 3 : 13) Moreover He said, "I [am] the God of your father - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob" And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God (Exo 3 : 6) Few Important Questions 2- How can we introduce the same experience & knowledge to others?? "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age" Amen (Mat 28: 19 – 20) Few Important Questions 2- How can we introduce the same experience & knowledge to others?? Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us". Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? (Joh 14: 8,9) Few Important Questions 2- How can we introduce the same experience & knowledge to others?? When they trust you, they trust what you see When they love you, they love your beloved God whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see [Him,] yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith -- the salvation of [your] souls. (1Pe 1 : 8, 9) Few Important Questions 3- How can we avoid any deviation in delivering this Knowledge & Experience??? a This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 Joh 1: 5- 7) Few Important Questions 3- How can we avoid any deviation in delivering this Knowledge & Experience??? b And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2Ti 2 : 2) The Church Teachings & Discipleship The Bible Few Important Questions 3- How can we avoid any deviation in delivering this Knowledge & Experience??? c But you have not so learned Christ, (Eph 4 : 20) But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor [do] the churches of God (1Co 11 : 16) Few Important Questions 3- How can we avoid any deviation in delivering this Knowledge & Experience??? d But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed (Gal 1 : 8) Few Important Questions 3- How can we avoid any deviation in delivering this Knowledge & Experience??? e "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare [it,] that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them" (Joh 17 : 26) Few Important Questions 4- Can we grow together or should we fully become mature before starting? For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what [is] the width and length and depth and height -- to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Eph 3: 14 – 19) Few Important Questions 4- Can we grow together or should we fully become mature before starting? And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This [is] a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.
