NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Contact: Chris Williams (804) 673-5690 [email protected] Martinsville Area Community Foundation Supports Blood Cancer Patient Services Martinsville, Virginia – Martinsville Area Community Foundation, through its Cancer Center Fund, recently renewed its support for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) patient services programs through a grant of $1500. LLS offers the most comprehensive array of services and support programs for blood cancer patients and their families, all provided free of charge. These services include: information and education programs for patients, families, and healthcare professionals; disease-specific webinars; support groups; a phone and web-accessible Information Resource Center; clinical trial assistance; a First Connection program that links newly diagnosed patients with someone who has journeyed the same cancer diagnosis; and a Back to School program to facilitate a child’s learning and re-assimilation experience after cancer treatment is completed. Additionally, LLS is one of the few remaining charitable health organizations to offer direct financial assistance to qualifying patients in need.
