Minimum Hardware and Software requirements

Network
For smaller numbers of agents, the application and database server can all be run on the same
server platform.
All server specifications assume that the servers are dedicated to running Synthesys, with no
other applications or databases running. We also assume that all latest Microsoft service packs
and security fixes are applied.
We do not make specific speed recommendations on CPUs used, but assume a recent model
server grade CPU. If running on legacy hardware then check with Noetica to see if it will cope
with anticipated workload.
Virtualised machines are supported, but should be provisioned in line with the requirements
below, and should not be subject to adverse contention with other machines hosted on the
same servers.

Client Workstations
This is for users designing Call Flows or using the Outbound Tools or monitoring and
reporting functions.

Network
Servers and Workstations must be connected using any network supporting TCP/IP
networking protocols. For up to 30 seats 10Mb/s structured network is fine; for 30+ we would
recommend 100Mb/s or above. Clients can also connect using a low bandwidth WAN,

although Citrix or Terminal Services or the web based version of Synthesys is recommend in
this scenario.
Server to server communication should not be restricted by firewalls. If this is not possible,
then the following protocols should be available:
 SQL Server – from Application Server and Workstations to Database Server (usually
ports 1433 and 1434, check Microsoft for details)
 File sharing protocols – from Workstation to Application Server
 Port 8900 – from Workstation to Application Server
 Any additional protocols such as Active Directory as required

Supported Connection Methods
In order to effectively support our clients it is a requirement that we have remote connectivity
to the Synthesys server(s) from our offices. In order to ensure that the connection between
Noetica and our customer server is robust we have a collection of proven connection methods
that we support, these are listed below.

Alternative Methods of connection
Noetica would always prefer to use one of the connection methods listed above, however we
do understand that there may be circumstances where another connection method is required
by a particular client. Whilst we will endeavour to use alternative software should a client’s
requirements demand it, there may be a charge associated with testing and configuring nonapproved software on our network. There will also be an impact on project lead times as
testing will need to be scheduled and carried out, please contact your Project Manager who
will coordinate.
We make no guarantee, however, that we will be able to use non-approved software and
reserve the right not to should we feel installing such software compromises the security of
our network or those of our clients.
Should a connection procedure be inadequate in allowing us to support a client efficiently
(e.g. connection speed to slow) Noetica reserves the right to request alternative connection
methods or change SLA’s accordingly.

Installation Process
This is just an outline, please consult detailed Installation and Troubleshooting document if
you require further details; installation is normally carried out by a Synthesys trained
engineer.

The ‘Synthesys Client Server Installation Request’ form should be completed by the
customer, in conjunction with their Noetica project manager if necessary.
The Customer will make remote access possible.
Noetica will validate server infrastructure.
Noetica will upload the software and install the software.
A SQL Database user ‘Synthesys’ needs to be created with the sysadmin role (this can
be later restricted if necessary).
Two databases are created per Synthesys installation:
a. Phoenix
b. Phoneyx
