FlexBusTM and FlexCardsTM April 24, 2015 FlexBus What is FlexBus? A parallel bus that expands the option card capability of a PAX2C PID Controller. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 2 FlexBus FlexBus Connectors How does FlexBus work? It adds a new set of option card connectors within a PAX2C PID Controller which allow for new option cards – known as FlexCards – to be used. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 3 FlexBus FlexBus Connectors Why do we need FlexBus? The advantage is that FlexCards are not slot-specific like our existing option cards. This allows the FlexCards to be added to any open slot, and further expands the capability and flexibility of the controller. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 4 FlexCards Field Installed FlexCards What kind of options are available? Currently we offer two FlexCards, both are available for the PAX2C PID Controller; – Heater Current Monitor w/ Outputs – PID Controller/2nd Analog Input © Red Lion Controls Inc. 5 Heater Current Monitor FlexCard What is Heater Current Monitor? The current of the heater is measured through a current transducer. The transducer output is connected to the HCM FlexCard inside the Controller. A display and/or alarm can be assigned to monitor the “health” of the heater and heater circuit, providing advanced warning of a short or open-circuit, and of heater degradation. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 6 PID/2nd Analog Input FlexCard + OR What is the advantage of 2 PID controllers in one unit? Saves the customer panel space and installation time. In addition, the customer can leverage all the features in the PAX2C like Graphic Bar Graphs, Color Changing Displays, 16 Alarms and the universal PID Control. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 7 FlexBus and FlexCards FlexBus Connectors What products feature FlexBus? The PAX2C is the only product that currently offers FlexBus and FlexCards. Combining this advantage with the PAX2C capabilities provides the market with a controller which has never been seen before. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 8 PAX2C PID Controllers Quick Review of PAX2C © Red Lion Controls Inc. 9 PX2C Universal PID Controller Standard Feature Set Full PID Controller Universal Input for Process, Voltage, Current, Resistance, and Temperature Dual Line Display with Bar Graph Tri-color Display with 7 Configurable Color Zones Up to 16 Soft Alarms with Boolean Logic © Red Lion Controls Inc. 10 PX2C Universal PID Controller Standard Feature Set (continued) Built-in USB Programming Port Modbus Communication Universal Power Supply Color-Aided Programming Crimson 2 Software Support Vertical or Horizontal Models Firmware Upgradeable © Red Lion Controls Inc. 11 Universal Capabilities Universal Power (one model offers) AC Power – 40 to 250 VAC DC Power – 21.6 to 250 VDC Universal Input (one model offers) DC Current – 250 µADC, 2.5 mADC, 25 mADC, 250 mADC, and 2 ADC DC Voltage – 250 mVDC, 2 VDC, 10 VDC, 25 VDC, 100 VDC, and 200 VDC Thermocouple – T, E, J, K, R, S, B, N, and C RTD – 100 ohm Pt, 120 ohm Nickel, and 10 ohm Copper Resistance – 100 ohm, 1000 ohm, and 10K ohm © Red Lion Controls Inc. 12 Display Capabilities Dual line display, allows two variables to be seen at one time Tri-color display, programmable for red, orange and green Display color change, provides visual indication of changing conditions Custom units and universal annunciators allow the display to be designed for your requirements Bar graph displays, provides visual feedback of process conditions © Red Lion Controls Inc. 13 16 Soft Alarms What is a soft alarm? A condition (alarm) within the controller that allows an action to be taken. Actions could be as simple as a change in display color to direct mapping to a hard output for external control. Control outputs Currently the controller supports up to 4 hard outputs for external control. Those outputs could be in the form of relay, triac, or solid state. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 14 Crimson 2 Support Because of the versatility of the controller, you will want to use the software to program it. Ease of programming Storing the program “Software Included” © Red Lion Controls Inc. 15 Our Biggest Advantage Unlike today’s PID Controller market, the PAX2C offers option cards that can be customer installed in the field. © Red Lion Controls Inc. 16 The Competition You Must Order and stock Exactly What You Need!
