Waikato Management School Prizes ECONOMICS: Dean's Medal for Academic The Prize was established in 2007 to recognise the best student(s) Excellence in particular degree programmes at the Waikato Management School. A student is eligible to receive the Dean’s medal if the degree has been completed between the day after the last date for eligibility to graduate at the April graduation ceremony in the preceding year and the last date for eligibility to graduate at the April graduation ceremony in the award year. Brendan Thompson Prize in The Brendan Thompson Prize in Economics is awarded annually Economics to the student enrolled in the Waikato Management School who gains the highest grade in either ECON306 (International Trade and Finance) or ECON406 (International Trade and Finance). Foundation Professor’s Prize in The Foundation Professor’s Prize in Economics is awarded Economics annually to the student enrolled in the Waikato Management School who gains the highest grade in the paper ECON100 (Business Economics and the New Zealand Economy), over the calendar year. J. T. Ward Prize in Economics The J. T. Ward Prize in Economics is awarded annually to the student enrolled in the Waikato Management School who gains the highest grade in the paper ECON202 (Microeconomics and Business Economics), over the calendar year. Bill and Joan Flower Trust Prize in The Bill and Joan Flower Trust Prize in Global Economics is Global Economics awarded annually to a student enrolled in the Waikato Management School who, in the year of the award, is enrolled in a second-year paper in Global Economics, and who is an outstanding student in that paper. Bill and Joan Flower Trust Prize in The Bill and Joan Flower Trust Prize in Environmental Economics Environmental Economics is awarded annually to a student enrolled in the Waikato Management School who, in the year of the award, is undertaking a third-year paper (or papers) in Economics, and who is enrolled either for a programme of study in which Economics is a major subject, or who is enrolled in the specified programme Resources and Environmental Planning (for a BSc or BSocSc); and is an outstanding student enrolled in a third-year paper in Environmental Economics.
