Teaching Dynamics Online Teaching Dynamics is a developmental service provided by Educational Designers to assist academic staff with the identification of areas of strength in their teaching as well as areas for improvement. Feedback from this service is meant to inform subsequent teaching practice. The instruments can also be used for the purpose of peer review. A Teaching Dynamics evaluation can be used to supplement reports from student surveys as well as to further the development of a Teaching Portfolio. This service is undertaken at the request of the individual academic staff member and all documentation is strictly confidential. The protocols created for this service ensure that any discussion relating to the service is confined to the two parties concerned. Focus on activity The Teaching Dynamics Online evaluation instruments have been designed to examine and help compile useful developmental feedback on an online learning activity facilitated via forums, Wiki, Chat, Blog and/or other interactive online technologies. Various aspects of the activities are evaluated including their: design for learning, alignment with stated learning objectives, engagement of learners, learning context, learner extension, practice for learners, integration, and, technology suitability. Two instruments The two TD Online evaluation instruments engage with a common set of criteria, but provide choice to academics and EDs regarding the format of feedback. The boxed question format is more structured than the generalised question format which may appeal or be more appropriate for broader or more general responses. The criteria used and the design developed for the TD Online instruments was based on evaluation instruments presented in: Agostinho, S, Oliver, R., Harper, B., Hedberg, H., & Wills, S. (2002).
