They sing and play jazz songs, improvising melodies and rhythms over chord sequences using the blues scale. SPRING TERM – 2nd half Year 5/6 musical: Pupils learn melodies and rhythms from memory. They sing in two and three parts, maintaining their part within a small group. Pupils add choreographed moves to their performances. SUMMER TERM Musical Clichés: Pupils analyse music for effect. They learn to identify and play musical clichés and features. What a performance! In this project Year 6 will take a look at other cultures and create a mask or piece of headwear to be used decoratively or in a performance. Papier mache will be the likely medium but there is the possibility that the model could be made in clay. SPRING TERM People in action. Movement is the theme in this project. A look at the futurists will inspire drawings portraying speed and movement. Oil pastel will inspire bright, vividly coloured work. SUMMER TERM A sense of place. Landscape will be the subject for this project. Students will produce a painting portraying an important place to them. There should be an attempt to portray a specific atmosphere too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DT AUTUMN TERM Shelters Structures of a temporary nature are the subject in this project. Looking at different structures will give the pupils a chance to understand how strong structures are developed and formed. They will be involved in strength testing their designs. SPRING TERM Slippers This is a textiles based project and will continue the pupils’ development of using materials for a specific purpose. SUMMER TERM Fairground This project will be a base for studying different types of motion.
