Job Purpose
The Social Media Manager (SMM) will be responsible for managing the creation, and
development and delivery of Wesleyan’s social media strategy. The position involves
creating and delivering engaging and successful social media initiatives as well as
promoting a social framework throughout the company.
Working with the Board and Executive the job holder will be responsible for articulating
and ultimately selling the Social Media benefits across to the company stakeholders.
In addition, the SMM will work closely with Marketing and PR teams to support the
delivery of the overall Marketing objectives of the organisation.
Areas of Responsibility








Create, implement and maintain the social media strategy. Own and deliver the
social product roadmap. Present the strategy and recommendations at the
Board and Executive meetings.
Act as the advocate of adoption of social media within Wesleyan thus
influencing stakeholders across the organisation.
Guide and educate the Marketing and Commercial teams in strategising,
defining and implementing social projects to meet commercial goals.
Plan and deliver social media campaigns, ensuring that they deliver Marketing
and Business objectives e.g. customer acquisition and retention, brand
awareness, sales and lead generation.
Build and maintain Wesleyan’s content distribution network. Manage
Wesleyan’s presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and
other similar community sites.
Create and source content for feeds and snippets for various social media sites.
Develop and manage the partnership program with identified Wesleyan
customer influencers.
Develop and manage the blogger outreach program, posting on relevant blogs
and seeding content into social media applications.


Develop analytics reporting for social media. Translate anecdotal and
qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media
campaigns.
Monitor online community tools, trends, applications and competition in the
social media space. Keep the senior management team updated on the market
and its developments.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential










In-depth knowledge and understanding of the social media platforms and
their participants: YouTube, Facebook, Digg, Twitter, Wikis, Delicious,
blogs etc and their deployment in different scenarios.
Experience of the blogging ecosystem.
Demonstrable creativity and management in the sphere of social media.
Demonstrable ability to map out a successful social media strategy proven
by testing and metrics.
Experienced at sourcing and managing content development and
publishing. Possess excellent writing skills with the ability to create editorial
output.
Experienced in leading projects to successful completion. Ability to handle
multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills at Executive and Board
level coupled with the ability to work individually or within a team
environment.
Manage the social media budget.
Management of third party web development and marketing agencies.
Have a good knowledge of the principles of PR, Marketing and SEO.
Desirable




Degree educated ideally in a marketing or a related discipline.
Knowledge of the Financial Services sector and marketing compliance.
Technical understanding of websites e.g. HTML, CSS
Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS)
