SCIENTIST/SENIOR SCIENTIST - MEDICINAL/ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
WAVE Life Sciences USA seeks experienced and highly motivated scientists to join its research team in
Boston, Massachusetts. An ideal candidate will be an individual with a strong background in medicinal
or organic chemistry, who is driven to succeed within a team-oriented, fast-paced and cross-disciplinary
biotech environment. The candidate will contribute to all levels of research, internal and external,
to support the development of optimized nucleic acid therapies across multiple disease areas. Prior
experience in industry exploring or utilizing oligonucleotide synthesis is preferred but not required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design of synthetic schemes to facilitate efficient access to complex organic compounds
• Synthesis, purification and analysis of a diverse range of organic compounds
• Regular and clear communication of data and ideas within multidisciplinary teams
• Management of external CRO activities
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Ph.D. in medicinal/organic chemistry or a related discipline
OR
Master’s degree & 5 years of relevant industrial experience
• Demonstrable and outstanding track record of aptitude and problem solving in the field of medicinal or
organic chemistry
• Adept at presentation of clear and accurate reports for internal and external projects
• Capacity to work flexibly and efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
• Collaborative and self-motivated team player
PREFERRED SKILLS;
• Solid understanding of the basics of molecular and cell biology
• Competency in applying the fundamental concepts and tools of structure-based drug design to chemical
investigation
• Working knowledge of Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD)
• Experience leading projects and inspiring teams
• Understanding of the core concepts of oligonucleotide synthesis and purification techniques
• Experience working within a start-up or small biotech business environment
