Direct comparison
(Both have X, but A has Y and B has Z.)
Both the Inca and Aztecs had advanced urban centers from which they ruled their empires, however, the Inca built a
complex road network through the Andes Mountains to unify their empire while the Aztecs built chinampas and
aqueducts to sustain their empire.
Reasons why direct comparison is important







Both Empires:
o All work done by human laborers
o These achievements have lasted to today and are still used or visible in some areas of the former empires
o Testimonies to the advanced and complex societies created by these groups of people
Inca road network through the Andes Mtns- steep ravines, extreme heights, handmade bridges
Inca road network larger than that of the Roman empire
Inca road network- series of tambos for state travelers
Aztec chinampas- manmade islands used for farming
Aztec aquaducts- allowed them to have access to fresh water, the source of which was in another tribe’s territoryo Shows how they had to interact with neighboring tribes
Both Aztec advancements are necessary for the survival of their people
