A Mystery 14 Billion Years in the Making... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 7, 2013 Toronto, ON… The Quickening Theatre Company (Fish Face, Mister Baxter, Code Blue) presents the world premiere of The De Chardin Project, the story of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: Jesuit Priest. Paleontologist. Visionary. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955) crossed continental cultures seeking the missing link between Faith and Science. His reward for his ground-breaking discoveries in human evolution? Condemnation and exile. "As a writer, I'm fascinated by the paradox inherent in Teilhard's life,” says playwright Adam Seybold. “A Jesuit Priest who advocated for the theory of Evolution and even though he was blocked at every turn by the Vatican he never gave up his commitment to the Church. I believe that today we can find hope in his struggle to bridge the gap between Heaven and Earth." Director Ginette Mohr agrees – “We look forward to The De Chardin Project sparking imaginations and debate. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's journey brought him to new and dangerous territories, to arenas where he asked questions at the forefront of our minds today.” Adds Co-Artistic Director Kate Fenton, "Our mission is to develop and produce original stories. The De Chardin Project is the story of one man’s quest to unlock the origins of the universe."
