Future of Kinesio Taping
in Denmark
“I am a student of Hippocrates. He
discovered so long ago and wrote
about the ways that the body heals
itself naturally.
I was able to combine my education in
both mainstream and traditional
medical techniques and philosophies

One man on a mission to heal the world….
His goals? Simply put:
•To activate the body’s own healing powers,
•To provide pain control free of chemical side effects, and
•To promote a cost effective method of care.
My tape imitated the qualities of human skin in
Cellular level.
I coined the name ‘KINESIO’ in respect to
hydrokinetic™ theory in Cellular level.
Cellular level: Stem cells exist in many places of the body

Kinesio Taping at the Cellular Level
• How can we use moderate stimulation for
therapy at the cellular level?
• Past and current therapy (including exercise)
use stimulation that is too strong.
• We need to create optimized stimulation based
on the space, movement and cooling concept.

New Research
Post surgical, rehabilitative pain control
• A brand new medical concept (Stem Cells)
• Apply tape to the surface to affect the
whole body
• A neurophysiological approach

Post-Operative Pain Relief
• EDF Taping is beginning to be used as a
way to minimize postsurgical pain
• Using the tape can be an alternative to
using opioid pain medications
• With opioid addiction at an all time high
researchers are testing Kinesio Taping for
use in hospitals and treatment centers
Kinesio Taping after Sternotomy
A Median sternotomy
B anterior thoracotomy C J-sternotomy
D lower hemisternotomy
Result
UNM Research Study
• Kinesio is currently working in collaboration
with The University of New Mexico to
research taping for pain relief after hand
surgery
• Patients at the University Hospital will either
receive Kinesio Taping after surgery or a
traditional pain medication
• Patient reports of pain will be compared as
well as use of pain medication in both groups
UNM Research
• Three types of hand surgery will be tested:
– Carpal Tunnel
– DeQuervain’s Syndrome
– Trigger Finger
Taping for pain relief after
carpal tunnel surgery
Taping to reduce inflammation
on the dorsum of the hand after
surgery
UNM Research
• Kinesio and UNM are also exploring other
possible research studies:
– Knee surgery
– Abdominal surgeries
– Integration of Kinesio Taping into a pain
management center
Emergency care by Kinesio Taping®
Is a treatment option appropriate for any
stage of your treatment plan
 Acute(traumatic condition)
 sub acute
 rehabilitative
 Chronic
 Post Surgical
 Psychology(mental)
 Used to prevent re-injury
 Helps the body return to homeostasis
New Certification Program
Merge of Old and New with Research
• Assessments and concepts are
emphasized so that practitioners will have
the ability to adjust therapeutic treatments
using their own clinical reasoning skills
• Kinesio Taping Assessments,
Fundamental Concepts and Techniques
• Kinesio Taping Clinical Reasoning and
Advanced Techniques
Quality of Tape
• Principles of Space, Movement and Cooling
require a unique tape quality for Kinesio
Taping Method to be effective
• FP(Fingerprint) and Performance Plus tapes
invented by Dr. Kase to meet need
Kinesio Taping Method
• Kinesio Taping Method was the first
therapy in a world where skin was lifted to
increase the space between the tissues
and continually affect it for 2-3 days.
• Based on principle that body has built-in
healing mechanisms, practitioners can
help to positively influence their efficiency
by removing barriers that impede them.
Kinesio Taping Method
• Results are increased fluid flow through
an injured area, better control over
muscle contractions, reduced pain, and
ultimately faster healing.
• Micro Space, Micro Movement and Micro
Cooling

Kinesio Tape creates convolutions in the skin and superficial soft tissue.
By lifting the skin, filaments which attach skin to endothelial cells are opened,
allowing for lymph obligatory load to fill in lymphatic capillaries, therefore reducing
pain and swelling.

Traditional Kinesio Taping Applications
A variety of systems can be treated:
Skin: Relieve pain or pressure and
improve proprioception (Endogenous
Analgesic System).
Fascia: Help return the fascial matrix to
homeostasis.
Circulatory/Lymph: Remove congestion
of lymphatic fluid and promote natural fluid
flow between layers of tissue.
Muscle: Restore or promote normal
muscle function.
Joint: Improve joint bio mechanics and
alignment
Traditional Kinesio Taping Applications
Effect on the Joint
Kinesio Taping affects
joint biomechanics by:
•Balancing agonist and
antagonist
•Reducing protective muscle
guarding and pain
•Supporting ligament & tendon
function
•Enhancing kinesthetic
awareness
New revolutionary EDF Taping

Epidermis

Dermis
EDF Taping
Fascia
• Embryologically, the epidermis and brain tissue both develop
from the ectoderm
• External mechanical forces produce a variety of cellular
events
• Mechanical force is converted into chemical signals in cells
• Mechanical loads are essential to repair damaged structures

EDF Taping for Acute Pain Relief
• To relieve acute pain we can tape the
epidermis with super light tensions
and thin strips of tape
• The thinner strips
of tape create
more of a lifting
effect on the skin
and can be used
in layers
