asey Marx wanted to be a child
psychologist, but life wanted him
to be a wealth advisor. People
across the country are glad he followed
the second path.
Marx’s choice of psychology was a
result of his feelings following his father’s
death when he was 15. Deeply affected by
this loss, he entered college with the goal
of pursuing a clinical profession.
But the story took a turn. Marx’s
mother experienced terrible financial
losses in the market. “I’ll tell you, there is
not a more helpless feeling in the world
than witnessing that type of financial
devastation and feeling responsibility to
your family and not knowing what to do,”
he says. “Sometimes knowledge comes
out of necessity. And for me, the direction became the financial field, studying
markets, trying to make sense of the
world and how to brave the storm.”

money investments and shuns risky
choices – stocks, bonds, mutual funds,
variable annuities – anything affected by
market fluctuations. Marx says this way,
he can guarantee investments’ safety,
allow for growth and assure clients an
income for life. “It sounds simple, but
when you’re not falling backwards, you’re
always moving forwards.”

Graduating into a less-than-ideal job
market, he set out on his own, creating
Crown Haven and putting the knowledge
he had gained to work helping as many
people as possible. “I think of my life’s
investment companies through employee
contributions and other management fees
taken after directly investing the owner’s
funds in the market, which Marx considers a casino. “What happened,” he says,
“was payroll executives determined they
could save, on average, 50 percent over
the lifetime of the employee if they put
the onus on that employee via automatic
deductions into a risk-based account. In
the process, these investment companies
have created clients for life. This is what I
like to call the ‘risk trap.’”

Crown Haven focuses on equityindexed annuities – not high-fee variable
annuities, but single- or flexible-premium
instruments that are tax-deferred, for interest and income accumulation. These,
Marx says, are 100 percent safe from
market losses, and growth is based on the
insurer’s indexed crediting methods.
Marx says none of his clients have
ever lost a single penny in his accounts
due to market loss. In fact, Marx’s
accounts lock in gains and eliminate
losses. “In an era of misinformation and
cynicism and a lack of trust in the financial institutions of America, we are your
safe haven,” he says. “We have a moral
obligation, and it comes from where I
come from. That is our company ethos.
I’ve never heard anything but, ‘Casey, I’m
so happy we’ve done what we’ve done, I
can sleep so much better at night.’”
