ENROLMENT IN HMB400-LEVEL
COURSES
HMB400-level
courses are popular. While the program encourages students to take more than one
HMB400-level course, we also have an obligation to enable as many of our students as possible to take at
least one HMB400-level course before they graduate.
This is why in the Calendar it states: Due to popularity of HMB400-level courses, the Human Biology
Program Office reserves the right to remove any student who has either completed the required number
of
courses for their HMB program or has completed the program requisite
that the HMB400-level
course would count towards.
What does this mean for you?
If you have never taken a HMB400-level course, you will have priority
over students who have taken a HMB400-level course. It also means that you will not be allowed to be
enrolled in courses that have time conflicts. If you are enrolled in two HMB courses that have time
conflicts, you will be told to decide by mid- August which course you want.
This year we have adopted a new course enrolment process designed to give you, our students, more
flexibility and autonomy in selecting your HMB400-level course, but we ask that you keep in mind that
every HMB student should have the opportunity to take at least one HMB400-level course, which is only
possible if we collectively share.
So what does this mean for course enrolment? It
means do not enrol in HMB courses that have time
conflicts, and check to make sure you meet the course prerequisites before you enrol. There will be no
prerequisite waivers on HMB400-level courses. Then, we will all go from there. This is new for us too!
If you have any questions, email [email protected] with your question (include your student
number!!) and we will be more than happy to answer all inquiries you have.
