“O Christ-Math Tree” (Grade 3)
Materials:
• 3 dice or number cubes
• Pencils and scratch paper
• A yellow and green crayon
• A Christmas Tree Board for each player
Directions:
1) Player 1 rolls all 3 dice and uses all three numbers and either + or –
symbols to get one of the numbers on the Christ-Math tree. For example if
you rolled a 3, 5 and 6 you could do 6 – 5 + 3 and then color in the 4 on the
tree in yellow crayon.
2) Player 1 colors in the ornament or star on the tree in yellow crayon when
the number sentence equals that number. If the player cannot match an
answer to the tree, then the player must pass.
3) Player 2 then takes a turn. (If there are more than 2 players, take turns –
example, player 3 would go next.)
4) The first player to color in every ornament/star on the tree is the winner.
Show how you found each number. Place the number in the blanks below and
place the + or – symbols in between each number.
