Assignment:
Levels of Organization WKST
January 02, 2016
Essential Question: How are multicellular organisms
organized?
How do the cells in a multicellular organism function?
We will know we can answer these questions when we:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
List the levels of organization in multicellular organisms and give
examples of each level.
Explain the purpose of stem cells and specialized cells in a developing
organism.
Identify key organelles in a cell and explain their role in the cell’s
survival.
Name the organelles ONLY found in plant cells or ONLY found in
animal cells and explain their purpose.
Describe how form of specialized plant and animal cells is related to
their function in the organism.
Interpret information found in graphs/ tables/ charts to better understand
science concepts and make informed decisions.

Attach WKST to Page 2 in your INB.
Be sure to attach it as a flap to provide
room for our Analogy Activity.
Circle any areas of uncertainty.
Discuss areas of uncertainty with
your partner.
Make adjustments if necessary.

Analogy Activity
Directions:
Study the pictures I am giving you. Think about what they
are, what they do, things related to each picture, etc.
Try to make an analogy between the picture and the levels of
organization we talked about yesterday.
As a pair, cut out the two pictures you have the most ideas
for. One will be attached into each of your notebooks.
Below the attached picture, fill in the levels of organization
for your analogy. Be sure to think about each level's
definition.

Here's an example...
Cell = a single taxi cab driver
a bunch of drivers together
Tissue = the driving staff
drivers and cars together
Organ = taxi cab service in Milwaukee
Organ System = the company's locations
throughout Wisconsin
WI locations working together
all Hertz locations together
Organism = the whole Hertz cab company
January 02, 2016
a single layer
an important part of the air filter
a smaller part of the engine
one of the major parts in a taxi cab
Cell = filter paper
Tissue = papery layers that filter
Organ = air filter
Organ System = engine
Organism = taxi cab
There could be more than
one "right" answer...
