HUNTERSVILLE SELDENS 2016 LOGAN FAMILY REUNION UPDATE Blessed and highly favored – plus exhausted. Our family trip this year took us to beautiful Destin Florida. This was our first trip to the Gulf coast and will not be the last. We also made a second trip to Punta Cana to bring in the New Year. We had a great time in the Caribbean once again and will keep it in mind for future family trips. Raven is a senior at Lake Norman Charter High School this year. She is ranked in the top 5 of her class and is currently making applications to college. Her #1 choice of college was solidified at UNC after spending 6 weeks over the summer taking freshman English and a leadership course as part of Project Uplift Plus. She has continued to develop as a leader as president of the “Diversity and Acceptance Club” – of which she is a founding member. She is also president of the teens for her Jack and Jill Chapter. She had an epiphany and determined that she did not enjoy running long distances any longer, so she gave up cross-country after 6 years. The team and coach begged for her to come back, but she has had enough. She still plans to compete in track in the spring running in the 800 meter dash. During the 2015-2016 seasons, she lettered in cross-country and track and help carry her team to conference championships plus regional and state recognition. Bobby continues to develop as a point/shooting guard for the basketball. As an 8th grader, he led his team in points and earned MVP award. He tried out and earned the starting point guard position on his JV team this fall. He is now a freshman in high school at Lake Norman Charter and is on the A/B honor roll. He is beginning to develop as a leader for his school as the class representative for the student council. He still has hopes of playing in the NBA, but has mentioned that if the basketball thing does not work out, he might give dentistry a try. Ryan is now an 8th grader at Lake Norman Charter Middle School. She is on the A/B honor roll and continues to do very well in school. Her first full year doing competitive cheer with the White Lightning Cheer Team went well. They qualified for the Division 2 summit and went to Tampa Florida to compete against the country. They were up against some tough competition and performed their best routine on the final day of competition. Outside of cheer – which takes up 4 days per week, she enjoys shopping and interior design. She may have a future in this one day. Sharay completed her coursework at Central Piedmont Community College with a certificate in Cosmetology. She was a stellar student who finished with nearly a 100 average on her course work. She now uses her advanced training to be a blessing to family and friends. She continues to stay active with Jack and Jill and volunteering at the kids’ school. Robert still teaches at UNC 2 days per month – for fun. Selden Orthodontics has continued to grow. It has increased to 11 full time team members and 1 part-time associate. Professionally, Robert continues to stay involved with organized dentistry. He serves as special advisor to the executive committee of the Old North State Dental Society, Junior Director of the North Carolina Association of Orthodontist and Secretary of the Continental Orthodontic Study Club. As if he were not busy enough, he has taken over management of his good friend, Dr. Sharon Holley’s dental practice as she battles brain cancer. Personally, Robert was able to complete in his second half marathon in Charlotte besting his time from last year by 5 minutes. He hopes to continue his streak of racing.
