“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears
my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug
deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that
house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But the one who hears and does not do
them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke
against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:46-49

WEEK 1 -Lucas for StuCo President
THE POINT
There is a lot of pressure to succeed as a teenager. You don’t have to do anything for God to love you
more; He loves you as you are.
LEADER NOTES
There are a lot of pressures and expectations on teenagers these days. Help your students identify some
of the biggest pressures they face, and help them discover how they can give them over to God. Also, a
lot of teenagers think that they have to do the right things to earn God’s love. Help them come to the
conclusion that God loves them as they are, and they should want to do good because they love Him
back.
1. What did you think about week one of Speed of Light? What did you like? What didn’t you like? What
did you identify with most?
2. How can you relate to Lucas’ situation? What would you say are some of the biggest pressures or
stresses students your age face? What are some of the high expectations society and people place on
you?
Tell about what you think has been your biggest fail. Why did you think you failed at that? How do you
think people thought of you because of that fail?
3. What is the biggest pressure YOU personally face? What high expectations are placed on YOU? By
whom? Why do you think that?
4. Would you say you worry more about what others think about you or what God thinks about you?
Why would you say that?
5. Open your Bible or Bible App and look up Colossians 3:23-24 together.
6. What do you think this verse means and is talking about?
7. How would you say you work to get approval from others?
8. Would you say you’re pretty good at working for God?
What are some areas of your life you would like to do better at working for God? Why those areas? How
will you go about doing that?
Speed of Light
WEEK 2- Hailey’s Breakup
2-25-15
THE POINT
Have a godly perspective on the situations you will go through in life.
LEADER NOTES
When something like a breakup happens in the life of a teenager, it can seem like the end of their
lives to them. Help them to discover what a healthy perspective is and can look like, which will
ultimately help them learn what a godly perspective looks like as it’s lived out.
1. What did you think about week two of Speed of Light? What did you like? What didn’t you like? What
did you identify with most?
2. How can you relate to Hailey’s situation?
3. What was one of the hardest times you’ve gone through? How did you handle it?
4. In your opinion what does it look like to live with a godly perspective on life?
5. Open your Bible or Bible App and look up Romans 8:28 together.
6. What do you think this verse means and is talking about?
7. How do you think God takes bad situations and works them out for good?
8. Tell about a time God has worked a bad situation in your life for good.
9. What are some areas of your life you know you need a godly perspective? How will you go about
getting that kind of perspective?

WEEK 3 -Cancer Sucks
3-4-15
THE POINT
Leave your mark and make your life matter.
LEADER NOTES
Help your students identify the ways they could be living their life leaving a mark and making a
difference. This can be a lofty concept, so really help them come up with practical ways they can
live that way now.
1.
What did you think about week three of Speed of Light? What did you like? What didn’t
you like? What did you identify with most? Can you relate to Jackson’s situation at all?
Why or why not?
2.
What would you say is one of the most important things you’ve done in your life so far?
Why would you say that?
3.
If you found out you had to have a surgery with only a 50% chance of survival, how do
you think you would handle it? What good would you want to do with your life up to the
surgery?
4.
Now, say you survived the surgery and you’re doing great. You have your whole life
ahead of you. What would you want your life to be about? Why?
5.
Open your Bible or Bible App and look up Ephesians 4:1 together.
6.
What do you think this verse means and is talking about?
What are some ways you can make your life matter now, and leave your mark on this world
now? What can YOU do? How will you start to do it?
