It has become very apparent to me in the first six months of working here at
Braintree Arts Theatre that we are very fortunate to have fantastically loyal

Thank you as ever for your continued support, and I look forward to welcoming
you to our great little theatre once again.
With kindest regards

Parkway Dreams
I Can’t Believe It’s Not
Buddy
Sat 17 October, 7:30pm
Fri 23 October, 7:30pm
Directed by Ivan Cutting Designed by
Charlie Cridlan Music by Simon Egerton.
It’s 1972 and a young family are about to
make a fresh start in an exciting New Town.
Using the authentic voices of those who
worked for the Peterborough Development
Corporation back in the 1970s and
1980s, Eastern Angles has recreated the
backroom story of how a small historic
Fenland city turned into buzzy New Town,
how ancient villages morphed into modern
townships and discovers why a comical
Roman Centurion came to front the city’s
publicity campaign…all told through the
eyes of Mary, Jack and Peter - a typical
London ‘overspill family’.
When Buddy Holly died in a plane crash in
1959 aged just 22 he was already a star...
today he is a legend!
Starring Spencer J as Buddy Holly and
backed by the superb Copycat Crickets,
this exciting, high-energy show features all
the classic hits - That’ll Be the Day, Peggy
Sue, Heartbeat, Maybe Baby, True Love
Ways, Oh Boy, Not Fade Away, Everyday,
Rave On, Raining In My Heart.
I CANT BELIEVE IT’S NOT BUDDY is
guaranteed to have the whole audience
Rockin’ and Boppin’ in the aisles...”the best
‘Buddy’ party in town”!
Parkway Dreams is a product of the Eastern
Angles/Vivacity Forty Years On archive
project funded by the Heritage Lottery
Fund.
In terms of energy, originality and ability to
connect with an audience, Buddy, Jerry,
Niki & Joe B, the original Crickets, had few
equals, beyond Elvis. Through hard work,
impeccable musicianship and dedication
to authenticity, Spencer, JJ, Gerry and
Spencer succeed in re-creating The
Crickets’ special brand of “feel-good fifties
fun” at venue after venue. And whenever
they are on stage, fans everywhere agree
that, once again, Buddy Holly lives!

This quirky mix of oral history interviews,

Ultimate Elton and The Rocket Band
Sat 7 November, 7:30pm
Some tribute artists look like their idol, some
sound like their idol. Paul Bacon as Elton
John does both! Close your eyes and you
won’t believe your ears, open your eyes
and you won’t believe them either! You
simply won’t find a closer tribute to Sir Elton
John.
Rapidly established as the foremost Elton
John tribute act in the UK, Ultimate Elton,
who also plays with a live band, presents
an uncannily accurate reproduction of
the classic live shows of one of pop music’s
most successful and best-loved artists. They
made the headlines recently when they
performed at Elton John’s Mothers 90th
birthday party!
A lifelong Elton John fan, Paul first started
singing and performing Elton’s songs whilst
studying Performing Arts at University in the
early 1980’s. Paul’s career highlights to date
include duetting with Kiki Dee on ‘Don’t Go
Breaking My Heart’, singing to a packed
Wembley Stadium before the Saracens
v Harlequins rugby match, and of course
meeting Sir Elton in person!

Celebrated chanteuse and mistress of
dramatic cabaret, Fiona Jane Weston
(Loving London The Capital Cabaret)
recreates the excitement of times that
changed our world forever in a moving
and humorous performance in the
acclaimed production Wartime Women
The Khaki Cabaret.
Questioning: What did Mummy do in the
war? Fiona answers through fascinating
stories, songs, verses and diary extracts:
Things she’d never done before! This is a
wonderfully affectionate tribute which
reminds us of the first time when ‘ordinary’
women became pilots, mechanics and
engineers. Women made munitions,
worked the land and performed daring
acts of espionage behind enemy lines.
Wartime Women The Khaki Cabaret,
illustrates that for women, things would
never be the same again!

Macbeth
Roy Orbison and Friends
Fri 20 November, 7:30pm
Sat 28 Nov, 7:30pm
This is not a story for the faint-hearted. It’s
the story of how old King Duncan died. It’s
a story of murder and betrayal. It’s a story
of supernatural sorcery. And it’s a story
that’s going to be retold as you’ve never
seen it before...
Taking their cues from film noir, gangland
Britain and the clowning tradition (yes,
really) the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons
Theatre Company put their own
contemporary spin on Shakespeare’s most
dangerous play.
Tragic and hilarious in equal measures
this innovative take on ‘The Scottish Play’
(Macbeth) features femmes fatale, highspeed chases, killer lines, killer crimes and
some seriously weird sisters.

wholly charming.” (The Times)

Using original film footage, live streaming
and backed by his fabulous band, Barry
Steele recreates the magic of Roy Orbison.
Add to the mix star guests celebrating the
musical legacy of Elvis Presley & Jerry Lee
Lewis, you have yourself a spectacular
fusion of good old “Rock n Roll” and
contemporary musical genius all on one
stage.

Roy Orbison was in the room. – The
Shropshire Star
It was on a family holiday in Cornwall
in 2001 that Barry took the first steps on
the road to becoming a professional
singer, when his wife Lynne and their
daughter Leonie entered him into a singing
competition without his knowledge. It was
there that a fellow competitor said to him,
“You know you sound just like Roy Orbison
singing Robbie Williams!” so with the help of
family and friends a tribute to The Big ‘O’
was born.

Supreme Queen
Sat 12 December 8:00pm
Supreme Queen have been paying
homage to the world’s most theatrical
and dramatic Rock band, Queen since
1995, and in that time have had a huge
impact on audiences across the UK,
Europe and Asia. Front man, Scott Maley
plays a uncannily realistic ‘Freddy’ with
just the right look, stage persona and,
most importantly of all, the most incredibly
powerful voice!
Scott is joined on stage by an enormously
talented band including Nathan Mathers
who brings all the electric guitar virtuosity
required to play a very convincing Brian
May. Their attention to detail is truly
impressive and extends to their use of the
exact same equipment used by Queen on
stage in their heyday.

The Reduced Shakespeare Company is a
three-man comedy troupe that takes long,
serious subjects and reduces them to short,
sharp comedies.
Since 1981, ‘The Bad Boys of Abridgement’
have created nine stage shows, two

and numerous radio pieces – all of which
have been performed, seen, heard and
translated into Klingon the world over.
The company’s first three shows, The
Complete Works of William Shakespeare
(abridged), The Complete History of
America (abridged) and The Bible: The
Complete Word of God (abridged)
enjoyed a nine-year run at the Criterion

I Feel Good
Floyd Effect
Sat 7 May, 7:30pm
Sat 23 July, 7:30pm
This unique show includes the fantastic
ground breaking music from three of the
greatest American icons of all time, who
were all born within three years of each
other in the southern state of Georgia.
Recreating the voices, costumes and
musicianship that has set the standard for
so many artistes including Michael Jackson,
Prince, Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Justin
Timberlake and Earth Wind & Fire.
The first half of this show is dedicated to
the “The Genius” Ray Charles who had so
many hits in Jazz, Country, Gospel, Blues &
Soul.
I Can’t Stop Loving You, Georgia, Hit The
Road Jack, What I’d Say, You Don’t Know
Me, Shake a tail feather& Mess Around
amongst others.
Having toured since 2007, The Floyd
Effect has become rightly renowned for
the remarkable accuracy with which it
performs the iconic music of Pink Floyd.
All of the band’s members are top quality
musicians with pedigrees that stretch
across all manner of musical genres, and
they faithfully recreate the music and
intensity of a Pink Floyd concert without
recourse to backing tracks, racks of
computers, or other technological wizardry.
Every note that you hear is played and
sung by the band, making each concert
a genuine ‘live’ experience, powerful,
immersive and emotional. And, of course,
the music is supported by a dramatic light
show that incorporates the iconic circular
screen, two sets of projections, smoke and
lasers.
The second half of the show features all the
biggest songs from both “The Architect of
Rock & Roll” Little Richardwho sits alongside
Elvis as a true King of Rock & Roll.
Performing its “Dark Side and Beyond” tour
in 2015/16, The Floyd Effect take you on a
musical journey from the Dark Side of the
Moon, through Wish You Were Here and
Animals, to The Wall, A Momentary Lapse
of Reason, and all the way to the latest,
and possibly the last, Pink Floyd work The
Endless River.
