IPM 2015: Full steam ahead for new plant products
At this year’s IPM, we’re going all out to give visitors a unique experience. This time, no less than 44 new
plant varieties and concepts will be presented at Floradania’s stand in hall 5, and there will be lots to see
Knud Jepsen
Kalanchoe ranks as the top most-produced crop in Denmark, with 41 million plants annually. Knud Jepsen
a/s, the world’s biggest Kalanchoe breeder and producer, accounts for most of both the production and the
new products, presenting no less than six new and improved varieties within the already impressive
Queen® product range which are well known for strong colours, large flowers and a high resistance to
ethylene:
-
Queen® RoseFlowers® ‘Louise’. A delicate rose-pink colour, very beautiful in the bud and flower.
Queen® RoseFlowers® ‘African Sun’. A beautiful sunny yellow colour which is ideal for Easter.
Queen® RoseFlowers® ‘Gabby’. Beautiful dark red shade. A fine Christmas colour.
Queen® Originals ‘SelenaQ2’. Lovely pink colour.
Queen® Originals ‘CarmenQ2’. Beautiful light orange colour.
Queen® Originals ‘DrewQ2’. Beautiful deep pink colour.
Additionally, the nursery is also introducing four new varieties within its new business area, Cut Flowers,
which have the same characteristics as potted plants with the elegant expression of bouquets guaranteed
to last more than three weeks:

Roses
Roses are the second-largest plant crop in Denmark, with an annual production of 24 million. And a lot is
happening in that area.
Rosa ApS and Roses Forever
The Rosa ApS nursery is presenting three exciting new potted roses, each of which each is distinguished
with special characteristics or stories:

’Carlton™’ Roses Forever ®, which was baptised in champagne in the Carlton restaurant by the
customer who chose the rose for their range.
’Love me forever™’ Roses Forever®, which is a standard type rose in miniature size, ideal for indoor
use and a perfect gift idea.
‘Moscow™by night’ Roses Forever® New Moscow Line. A beautiful, intense red rose with lots of
buds and medium-sized flowers, in a new series with greater colour variation.
Roses Forever ApS is also presenting a number of beautiful garden roses, all of which are characterised by
long durability and many buds:

‘Sweet Family™’ Sweet Home Roses®. Apricot-coloured garden rose.
’Sweet Day™’ Sweet Home Roses®. White garden rose in miniature size.
’Our Last Summer™’Plant ‘n’ Relax®. Climbing rose that blooms on the first year’s shoots.
Rosa Danica A/S
The nursery is cooperating with W. Kordes Söhne to develop Kordana roses, and is presenting a whole new
series, RosAroma, which is the result of many years’ work in breeding and cross-breeding. All colours are
represented, and the series is continuously being expanded with new flower sizes and shades.
Poulsen Roser A/S
Another leading rose breeder, Poulsen Roser A/S, is presenting four potted roses – including both
completely new varieties and existing varieties with improved durability:

Posy™ Parade® Poulpar105(N) has beautiful, shapely apricot-coloured flowers and is suitable for
both indoor and outdoor use.
Tiffany 2015 Hit® Patiohit® Poulpah082(N) – a new and improved version of the ever-popular
Tiffany™.
Emi™ Party® Poulty024(N), which has a beautiful and delicate rose-pink colour.
Brandi Hit® Patiohit® Poulpah084(N). An apricot-coloured rose that is compact and green right from
the bottom.
Clematis
In addition to roses, Poulsen Rosen A/S also breeds Clematis, and is presenting two beautiful new examples
characterised by exceptional use possibilities in both the living-room and the garden beds:

Reiko™ Garland® Evipo088(N). New colour, with purple petals.
Dayu™ Boulevard® Evipo083(N). New unique magenta colour.
Schroll
Hydrangea macrophylla is a Danish-produced plant that is making quite an impact on the international
scene. The SCHROLL nursery both breeds and produces its own plants, and is presenting a fine repertoire of
new and improved varieties, each characterised by large, compact flower heads and intense colours and
colour development:

Hortensia 'Blue Velvet™' has beautiful, blue, velvet-soft flowers in the petals.
Hortensia 'Pink Sky™' has an unusual colour development in the flower heads and large, graceful
flowers.
Hortensia Hydrangea 'Purple Romance™' has very beautiful purple flowers.
Hortensia Hydrangea 'Pink Sunset™' has dark pink flower heads.
Hortensia 'Blue Sunset™' has dark blue flower heads.
Råhøj
Winners of the Floradania Innovation Award 2014, 2012 and 2009 within Trifolium repens, which are
winter-hardy and ideal for pots, the Råhøj nursery is presenting two new products this year:

‘Leonora’, which, like its sister ‘Estelle’, is named after a little Swedish princess.
'Dark Debbie', which has almost black foliage, and is a refinement of the extremely popular dark
‘Debbie’ variety.
Aster
Besides trifolium, the development and production of Aster is one of the nursery’s flagships.
Symphyotrichum novi-belgii ‘Nicole’, named after film star Nicole Kidmann, is a vigorous plant with many
flowers that bloom in stages, allowing consumers to enjoy it for a long time.
PKM A/S
The latest addition to the Campanula palette from Denmark’s largest Campanula producer, PKM, is the
charming Fancy MEE ®, distinguished by its two-tone flowers and high quality.
Graff Kristensen A/S
The nursery, which is best known for its processing and production of Hibiscus - under the brand name
HibisQs® – is now launching a crisp new star under the name Euphorbia pulcherrima Qismas® Crunch™.
Thoruplund A/S
Thor Wild Cactus is the name of the nursery’s latest Schlumbergera variety, which is markedly unusual in its
leaves and flowers. The sculptural form with symmetrical flowers makes the plant ideal for decorative
purposes.
Sogo Team ApS
Promenaea Xanthina Sunlight is a brand-new orchid variety on the market. It has its origins in Central
America, and is named after an ancient Greek priestess of Dodona. Most Promenaea varieties occur as
epiphytes in humid forests. The plant bears one or two flowers per inflorescence, which last for 4-6 weeks.
After flowering, it has wonderful ornamental value as a green plant.
Concepts
On the concepts front, Danish growers have also been showing their innovative side. With nine exciting and
innovative concepts on show, there are good prospects for new opportunities for the retail sector and
some wonderful new experiences for consumers:
