Function 2 : Detect passive standby power mode of appliances connected to it
Function 3 : Detect active standby power mode of appliances connected to it
Function 4 : Calculate (or measure) the amount of consumed power (or electric current
and voltage) and send result to ESS server
Class 1 : ESS clients which meet Function 1 and 2 above (for ESS model 1)
Class 2 : ESS clients which meet Function 1, 2 and 3 above (for ESS model 2)
Class 3 : ESS clients which meet Function 1, 2, 3 and 4 above (for ESS model 2)
Feasible Types



Type 1 : outlet type (for legacy devices)
Type 2 : adaptor type (for legacy devices)
Type 3 : new devices with a built-in ESS client

Feasible Types



Type 1 : stand-alone type (no connection to home server or home gateway)
Type 2 : stand-alone type, but it is interoperable with home server or home
gateway
Type 3 : home server or home gateway type (can be implemented as additional
functions of home gateway (or home server))
