Golf Balls in a Tray
Problem
A golf ball manufacturer was having issues with golf balls
missing in a tray. Standard photoelectric sensors checking for
the presence of the golf balls gave inconsistent readings due
to variation in the position of the tray. Constant adjustment of
the photoelectric sensors was also an issue.
Solution
A Checker® vision sensor was installed. Checker was set up
to operate with an external trigger. Checker places multiple
brightness sensors as inspection points. The size of the
sensors was set to overcome variations in the position of the
tray. The sensors inspect the points for the presence of the
golf balls. Through Ladder Logic, the customer was able to
distinguish exactly which golf balls were missing in the tray.
