Drink, Empty, Recycle Procedures Student for Meals in the Cafeteria Helpers Why Recycle? Why Recycle? Prevents deforestation (removing forests). 1650 = old growth forest 1850 1926 Old Growth Forests Original forests that have developed naturally and have never been logged. Benefits More diverse plant life More diverse animal life Resist disease Why Recycle? Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees. MPS could save 2,688 trees per year with the Carton Recycling Program! Why Recycle? Paper boats and aluminum pre-pack containers can be recycled if food is scrapped into the garbage beforehand. What is not recyclable? Plastic pre-pack containers, sporks, portion cups, food wrappers, and straws are made out of #6 plastic which is NOT recyclable. Questions?
