Behavioral Contract Understanding Statement
The Greek Week Committee in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities defines a representative of your
organization as one who is participating in a Greek Week Event, one who is competing in a Greek Week event,
or one who is attending a Greek Week event in any capacity (i.e. as a committee member, spectator, etc.)
The Greek Week Committee in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities defines intoxication as being
under the influence of any drug (which includes, but is not limited to alcohol). An intoxicated person is
considered any person who has the slightest amount of a drug (alcohol included) introduced into their body since
they woke up that morning.
The Greek Week Committee in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities defines fighting as any actual or
attempted verbal or physical abuse or behavior between one or more representatives of your organization to one
or more representatives of another organization.
I understand why intoxicated or fighting members of the Western Illinois University community can be harmful,
embarrassing, and against the Mission Statement of the University. I will not show up to any Greek Week event
as a participant, competitor, and spectator or otherwise, while intoxicated or with the intent to fight, as defined
above.
I also understand that it will be up to the Greek Week Committee and the Office of Student Activities or one of its
representatives, to determine the intoxication of an organization’s representative or the level of fighting. I
understand the repercussions for violations of this policy are up to the discretion of the Office of Student
Activities and the Greek Week Committee, keeping in mind that disqualification from an event or from the Overall
Competition is possible.
The Greek Week Committee in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities out of concern for me, in the best
interest of the Western Illinois University community’s well-being, and in an effort to make the Greek Week
competition enjoyable for all participants requires my compliance with this policy. Each participant from an
organization is required to sign below.
