She is board certified through the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy and the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society. Ann combines her expertise in wound care, wound formulary development, public speaking and business development, along with certification in Legal Nurse Consulting. Ann has worked in longterm care, acute care, home health, rehab and hospice. Her love of wound care enhances her capacity as a coach to help other clinicians advance their wound care skills. Ann is currently an instructor with the Wound Care Education Institute. Mario Ponticello DPM, FACFAS, FAPWCA Dr. Ponticello is the chief of the Limb Preservation Service and the director of the Limb Preservation Complex Lower Extremity Surgery and Research Fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. In this seminar, we detail the guidelines in a format that will help you determine and summarize what is working in your care settings and what areas need improvement. Additionally, you will be provided with “how to’s” specific to the guidelines. ■ ■ ■ Learn about the 575 recently published recommendations for pressure injury prevention and treatment. Understand what is working in your care settings and what areas need improvement. This presentation reviews the breadth of this issue, discusses early recognition and screening and gives an overview of appropriate clinical pathways, diagnostic tools and treatment approaches needed to promote limb preservation. ■ Identify the scope of the problem regarding limb loss and associated co-morbidities. ■ Learn appropriate clinical pathways, diagnostic tools and processes to support limb preservation. ■ Review screening and recognition processes to address at-risk concerns early.
