Guest Speakers:
Edie Attrell
Dr. Laurie Parsons
Ms. Attrell is a Clinical Consultant and Educator
for Alberta Health Services. She is a published
author and an accomplished presenter both
Nationally and Internationally. She works with
an aging population residing in the AHS
Integrated Supported and Facility Living
Program and delivers wound and skin care
education to staff.
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Parsons is the Medical Director of the
Multidisciplinary Complex Wound Care Clinic at
Sheldon Chumir Centre. She is also the Chair of
the Canadian Contact Dermatitis Association
and of Undergraduate Dermatology Education,
University of Calgary.
Marlene Varga
MSc, BSc, RN, CACE, IIWCC
Ms. Varga is a Wound Care Consultant and
Educator. She is a published author and a
member of numerous affiliations and
organizations. She enjoys delivering
evidence-based presentations and has
completed research in the area of pressure
ulcer prevalence and incidence.
Doug Baron
RN, BN, ET, IIWCC
Dr. Chester Ho
MD
Dr. Ho is an Associate Professor and Head of the
Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at
the University of Calgary. He has spoken
internationally, and has received research
funding and published extensively on the topic of
pressure ulcers.
Joy Boyd
RN, BN
BSc, PT, IIWCC
Mr. Baron currently holds the position of Burn
Clinic Coordinator and Team Leader MSK
Outpatient Physiotherapy at the Alberta
Children’s Hospital.
Ms. Boyd is a seasoned Emergency nurse
practicing at the Foothills Medical Centre. She is
an Acute Wound Educator for Southern Alberta
and a Contributor on Provincial Nursing Wound
Care. Joy is also a Module Advisor to AHS
Healthlink and a Consultant to EMS on Wound
Care Education.
