MUSIC SOUND INCREDIBLE."
STEVE SELLS, ELECTRONIC DESIGN DIRECTOR
Designed for pure musical performance, Statement is the pinnacle of
Naim engineering knowledge and artistry. The series comprises the
NAC S1 preamplifier and NAP S1 mono power amplifiers.
Statement was over ten years in the making. We started with a blank
page, specifying each element based on forty years of engineering
experience and setting aside all traditional constraints on design to
focus solely on musical performance. From first concept to final build,
we've made no compromises in our pursuit of the ultimate sound.

Every part of Statement contributes to its performance. From the aluminium
casework and stainless steel floor spikes to the custom transistors, we left no
stone unturned in our pursuit of the ultimate sound.
The NAC S1 preamp and NAP S1 mono power amps have two key elements:
the high-calibre power supply components in the lower half and the sensitive
electronics in the upper half. Between them sits an acrylic partition to
eliminate interaction. The overall effect is supreme sound performance through
minimising electromagnetic, mechanical, acoustic and thermal interchange.

VERTICAL THINKING
Statement’s vertical form is no accident. It grew out of the design
to allow for the most efficient cooling and the greatest separation
between the huge power supply in the base and sensitive
electronics in the upper section.

The power supply of the NAP S1
power amplifier
The massive 4kVA transformer of the NAP S1 mono power amp
allows it to deliver 746 watts, or one horsepower, to its loudspeaker.
Our proprietary Naim DRs (Discrete Regulators) transform this
huge power into the smooth and stable supply we know is vital to
musical performance.

CUSTOM ELECTRONICS
The Statement circuit design is completely new from the ground up.
The key components have been selected after listening tests and
matched by hand. The most critical transistors have been customdesigned in collaboration with a semi-conductor manufacturer
more used to creating parts for space exploration, such were the
tolerances Statement demanded.

Intricate hand-soldering of
Statement can only be carried out
by our most skilled technicians
The sound critical electronics of the NAC S1 preamplifier are
suspended vertically within a brass sub-chassis with a resonant
frequency of just 12Hz. This ensures that mechanical isolation of the
most sensitive circuit boards begins at the lowest audio frequencies
to preserve sound quality.

GARY CROCKER, SENIOR ELECTRONIC DESIGN ENGINEER
It took a dedicated team of engineers several years to develop and perfect
the Statement design. And it takes a specialist team of technicians three
weeks to build and test each system at Naim in Salisbury, England.
Much of the build process is carried out using highly advanced
manufacturing techniques. Guided by computerised 3D assembly
instructions, the final Statement wiring and assembly is all done by hand
by our most skilled and experienced technicians. Even with the help of
this technology it takes the intuition garnered from building hundreds of
high-end Naim products over several years to successfully complete the
build to our standards. And of course, as with every Naim product, every
material, component and finished product is subjected to listening tests to
make sure it delivers incredible sound quality.

THE NAIM STORY
Even the simplest idea can become the seed for something truly
monumental.
Naim founder, Julian Vereker MBE (1945-2000), was a successful
racing car driver, self-taught engineer and entrepreneur with a deep
passion for music. Spending his spare time listening to the greatest
artists of the 1960's and 70's, as well as his own friends playing live,
Julian found the performance of playback at home fell woefully
short in almost every area that mattered.
Not content with second best, he set about designing his own
amplifiers and loudspeakers, completely unaware that he was
laying the foundations for a range of iconic and award-winning hi-fi
products that would reach well into the next century. Julian had
no ideas of fame or fortune, he simply wanted to experience music
replayed in the truest and purest possible form.
These were our founding values in 1973 and they continue to fuel
every aspect of our progress today. The technology we use to
achieve our aims will always change and evolve with time, but our
ultimate goal remains the same - to bring our listeners a deeper and
more intense experience of music.
