FROM:

SUBJECT:
Pledge of Allegiance
Oregon state law requires schools to provide students with an opportunity to say the Pledge of Allegiance at least once
during each school week. ORS 339.875 specifically requires that each school district will:
(1)
Provide students with the opportunity to salute the United States flag at least once each week of the
school year by reciting: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the
Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
(2)
Students who do not participate in the salute provided for by this section must maintain a respectful
silence during the salute.
As always, please feel free to call me at ext. 63570 if you have any questions.
