Body Systems Booklet
INSTRUCTIONS: Create a Body Systems Booklet with a page for each of the body systems listed below. Each page must
be clearly labeled with the body system that it represents. On each page include the listed requirements in a very neat
and orderly fashion. All pictures/diagrams should be neatly HAND DRAWN. For vocabulary, please include the word & its
definition. This is a MAJOR GRADE and should be well planned and very neat.
Include the following systems: (1) Circulatory (2) Respiratory (3) Skeletal (4) Muscle (5) Integumentary (6) Nervous (7)
Digestive (8) Excretory (9) Endocrine
Circulatory System OBJECTIVES:
Draw/label a heart and include arrows to show pathway of blood
1. Describe the four different parts of blood.
2. Explain what creates the sound of the heartbeat.
VOCABULARY:
1. Circulatory System 2. Heart 3. Arteries 4. Veins 5. Capillaries
Respiratory System OBJECTIVES:
Draw and label the lungs, diaphragm, trachea, bronchial tubes, alveoli
1. Explain the function of the ribs and diaphragm in the breathing process.
2. Explain how gas exchange happens in the alveoli.

2. Explain the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles.
VOCABULARY:
1. Muscular System 2. Skeletal muscle 3. Smooth muscle 4. Cardiac muscle 5. Ligaments 6. Tendons
The Integumentary System OBJECTIVES:
Draw and label a diagram of the skin and its layers
1. State the functions of the integumentary system.
2. Name & describe the layers of the skin and their functions.
3. What are the 2 types of sensory receptors and what are their function.
VOCABULARY: 1. Integumentary System 2. Hair 3. Nails 4. Sweat glands
Nervous System OBJECTIVES :
Draw & label a brain
1.
Describe the basic structure and function of the nervous system.
2.
Describe the 2 different types of nerves.
3.
Explain how a nerve impulse travels.
VOCABULARY: 1. Nervous System 2.Brain 3. Spinal cord
4. Nerves 5. Neuron 6. Dendrite
Digestive System OBJECTIVES:
Draw & Label the digestive system: mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus
1.
Describe the process of digestion beginning with food entering the body and ending with undigested and
unabsorbed food leaving the body.
