Allowed the United States to pursue its economic interests in other nations
United States would be able to grow while also helping other countries grow
economically
Portrayed the United States as a supporter of human rights (condemned
imperialism and other dictatorial forms of government)
No military force needed to make effective change
What was Dollar Diplomacy?
The purpose of the Dollar Diplomacy put into place by
William Taft was to stabilize foreign countries under economic
pressure. It was also meant to use private US capital in such a
way that would promote American interests. For example, they
wanted to use Dollar Diplomacy to protect the Panama Canal.
They also wanted to use it gain control over other countries,
such as Honduras, but it was not always successful.
Importance of Dollar Diplomacy
Dollar diplomacy is the best and most important foreign policy due
to the fact that is achieves the American policy goals. President Taft
believed that the dollar diplomacy created advancements in the United
States interests in other countries. Also it promoted the American
economic interest in other countries.
Big Stick Diplomacy
Big Stick Diplomacy was the idea that the United States should be
backed by the threat of force against any countries who threaten
us. This name came from Theodore Roosevelt who said the US
should “speak softly and carry a big stick”. Theodore Roosevelt's
Big Stick was the Great White naval fleet.
[Roosevelt Corollary gave the United States police powers in Latin
American affairs]
Importance
Big Stick Diplomacy and the Roosevelt Corollary are the best
policies for the United States because it is the duty of Americans to
“exercise international police power in flagrant cases of such
wrongdoing or impotence”, as Roosevelt said. The policy is an
addition to the Monroe Doctrine, which was designed to keep
European intervention out of Latin American countries. With this
addition, the United States has the right to exercise military power
as a last resort to keep these countries out.

Definition and Parameters
Dollar Diplomacy of the United States—particularly during President William Taft’s
term— was a form against American foreign policy to further its aims in Latin
America and East Asia through use of its economic power by guaranteeing loans
made to foreign countries. Basically what that means is that it is the use of a
country’s financial power to extend international influence.
Importance
The dollar diplomacy would create stability and order in foreign countries
(predominantly countries in Latin America and East Asia) that would best promote
American commercial interests. The dollar diplomacy would also serve to improve
financial opportunities for the United States. With the dollar diplomacy the U.S
would be allowed to further influence a lot of the world.

Big Stick Diplomacy is the idea of peacefully
negotiating, and simultaneously threaten with the
“big stick” which means the military. The idea is
derived from Roosevelt’s phrase: “speak softly
and carry a big stick.” The theory was that
Roosevelt overall strived for peace, however
wanted other nations to be aware of America’s
military power.
The Roosevelt Corollary was an addition to the
Monroe Doctrine that stated that the United States
had the right to exercise military force in Latin
American countries in order to keep European
countries out
Importance of Big Stick Diplomacy
The Big Stick Diplomacy is the best policy for
The U.S. in a greater sense. By setting up areas
In other countries and controlling them will
Make the United States look more powerful. To
Other countries we will look more superior and
Make them scared to declare war against us
Because they know we can beat them.
Moral Diplomacy
Moral diplomacy is a Diplomacy proposed by President president Woodrow Wilson in
his 1912 election. The system works by support is only given to those countries are
analogous [similar to the United States, especially ideologically] to that of the nation.
This system promotes growth with countries ideals, as it damages countries with other
ideologies. This also supported countries with a democratic government and impacted
non-democratic countries in a negative way. Woodrow wilson hoped that this system
could actually increase the amount of democratic governments in countries, but
particularly in Latin America.
Importance
Moral Diplomacy is important because it increased America’s international relations
by supporting countries with similar ideals and values. This ultimately helped the
United States gain approval from a plethora of countries. Also, the policy advanced
American economic interests in foreign countries, resulting in economic growth. As
American interests grew internationally, they lent a helping hand for the other nations
to prosper in terms of economic condition.

The Definition of Moral Diplomacy
Moral Diplomacy: A form of diplomacy proposed by Woodrow
Wilson which condemned imperialism and promoted democracy
and peace. It is the system where support is only given to
countries whose ideals are similar to the those of the U.S. This
form of diplomacy was intended to support the growth of
democratic nations and weaken non-democratic nations.`
Importance
Moral Diplomacy is the best policy for the United States. It
helps the United States grow and helps other countries prosper
simultaneously. Imperialism and other forms of dictatorship are
condemned in Moral Diplomacy. This then enforces other
countries to become democratic like the United States. The
U.S. is now the “big brother” figure looking over the other
countries and helping them, and the U.S., prosper economically
and humanitarianly.
Dollar Diplomacy Definition
● President Taft was committed to the expansion of U.S.
foreign trade. The Dollar Diplomacy was designed to
encourage U.S. investments in South and Central America,
the Caribbean, and the Far East. Taft wanted to ensure the
financial stability of a region while protecting and extending
U.S. commercial and financial interests there. His policy was
used from 1909-1913.
Importance
● The dollar diplomacy is the best for the United States
because it is a win-win policy. U.S. businesses can profit from
overseas trade and the investors will help stabilize the shaky
governments of the trading regions. Taft’s policy increases
trade while giving support to other countries involved. It will
also extend the U.S. sphere of influence, lead to better foreign
relations, and improve financial opportunities for American
banking corporations.
Definition
The Big Stick Diplomacy was President Theodore Roosevelt’s
foreign policy: “speak softly, and carry a big stick.” It was a
way for leaders to obtain peace while also keeping other
countries aware of its military power. The Roosevelt Corollary
that said that the United States could intervene in the affairs
of other countries as a last resort that other nations fulfilled
their promises to other countries.
Importance
The reason why the big stick diplomacy is important is because
when the United States looks at a country that you want to takeover
or that they want to have some say in what needs to happen, they
need to show up with a large force but also with a good argument.
With this type of diplomacy the United States can come into
anything with power, it is most like that they will get what they
want and they won’t have to lose anything. They will keep their
forces there till they know that it is safe and they won’t try to back
down on what the agreed to.

What is “Moral Diplomacy”?
Moral Diplomacy is a form of diplomacy formed by US President Woodrow Wilson.
Moral Diplomacy was a system that offered support to countries with similar moral
beliefs.
It promoted the growth of nations with parallel ideals and harmed nations with
different ideologies
Wilson aimed to reward nations with democratic governments and attempted to
increase the number of democratic nations, especially in Latin America
Importance of the Moral Diplomacy
The Moral Diplomacy is the best policy for the United
States because it can help us possibly create allies with
Latin America. It allowed for not only the US to benefit
economically, but gave other countries the opportunity to
prosper with the help of US assistance. It exhibited
America’s intentions of helping other countries and gave a
sense of a brother figure, guiding allies towards affluence
for a humanitarian cause.
Dollar Diplomacy
- Dollar Diplomacy: Type of Diplomacy created by William Taft and Philander C.Knox,
intended to ensure financial stability of the region while protecting and extending U.S.
commercial and financial interests in that region.
- Goal:
-
create stability and order abroad to promote American Commercial interest
Improve financial opportunities
Use private capitals to further U.S. interests overseas
U.S. interventions in the Caribbean, Central America, China
Importance
Dollar Diplomacy is critical for the United States, because in order for the country
to grow it is necessary to ensure financial stability while supporting our economy
and attempting to support other economies as well. With the benefit of our economy
by the gain of several resources, we also benefit fiscally and economically, and we
attempt to gain the respect of countries in need, such as many countries in Latin
America. As for these reasons, Dollar Diplomacy is the most important recipe for
diplomacy in the United States.
