2.1 Mission:
 Upgrade the level of orthodontic care to reach Excellency.
 Raise the level of awareness in the population.
Objectives:
The society aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. Develop professional thinking in the field of orthodontics and the promote scientific
and professional practice of the society members.
2. Providing the chance for all orthodontic professionals to participate in the scientific
advancement of the field.
3. Facilitating the exchange of scientific and professional information between the
society and various institutions inside and outside the Kingdom.
4. Providing consultations and performing studies that will promote the level of
orthodontics related to the different medical organizations.
5. Cooperate with the Ministry of Health and the Saudi Council for Medical Specialties,
in outlining the standards of the practice of orthodontics and taking part in
supervising and maintaining an acceptable standard of patient care.
6. Participation in raising the overall public awareness regarding orthodontics.

2.3 History:
Saudi orthodontic society was founded under the umbrella of the Saudi commission for
health specialties , and with the consent of the board of trustees of the commission on
11/3/1427 h (09/04/2006) as the first specialist in the field of dentistry in the kingdom
following this approval, the commission adopted the constituent association to hold the
first general assembly meeting on the sidelines of the first scientific meeting in the hall
of prince sultan at Saudi commission for health specialties on 24-25/10/1427 h( 1516/11/2006).
Members of the society were selectively elected based on the qualification and ambition
to make the society a formal reference to science and technology in the orthodontic field.
The society is committed to involve all various parties in the orthodontic society to gain
the best quality of experience and reference and raise the awareness of orthodontics.

Membership conditions and procedures:
There are three types of membership:(A) Full membership, conditioned by:
1- The applicant must be holding a recognized Certificate in orthodontics.
2- The applicant should be a resident of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or of one
the Gulf States.
3- The applicant should forward an application to the society.
4- The applicant shall pay the annual registration and subscription fees as decided
by the society.
5- An acceptance of the membership is issued by the Society Board of Directors,
and the applicant is then informed.
(B) Honorary Membership:
This is to be granted by the society Board of Directors to those who provided the
society with material and non material services, or participated in the development of
the Society activities whether they are from inside or outside the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia.
The award of the honorary membership is decided upon by the Society Board of
Directors after the approval of the general assembly. The honorary member is
exempted from registration and subscription fees and shall have the right, even if not
specialized, to attend the general assembly sessions and participate in discussions, but
he shall not have the right to vote.
(C) Associate membership:
1- It is granted to non-residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who hold a
recognized certificate in orthodontics.
2- Granted to residents and non-residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who
are holding medical qualifications different from that of the society.
3- Granted to dental, medical, applied medicine and other related technical
medical students.
4- Other professionals involved in the specialty that do not have a recognized
orthodontic certificate and do not fulfill the educational qualifying conditions
of the active members.
5- The associate member is exempted from half the annual subscription fee and
he has the right to attend the sessions of the general assembly and of its
different committees, without the right of voting.
