anotherchurcharealsoinvitedtoparticipate.

What is Confirmation Class?
Confirmationisalearningopportunitytogrowinknowledgeandrelationshipwith
JesusChrist,learningaboutHislifeandwork,andwhatitmeanstobeHisdisciple.
Overthespanofthreemonths,theConfirmandswillbeexposedtosomeofthekey
teachingsoftheChristianFaith,thehistoryofthechurchuniversal,aswellas,our
localchurch.
Why do we take Confirmation class?
Confirmationclasshelpsyoungpeopleexploretheirfaithjourneyandarticulate
theirfaithinChristJesus.
Who is teaching the class?
PastorBen,LillieAnderson,andFayePrice.Weareusingthe“WeBelieve”
confirmationcurriculumfromPC(USA).
When and where will we meet?
Sundaysmorningsfrom9:30–10:45intheYouthRoom.
Do I have to come to every class meeting?
ConsistentattendanceisexpectedofallConfirmandsintheclass.Becausetheclass
willrunforjust3months,aConfirmandmaymissoneclasswithoutpenalty,but
theyshouldcontactBenpriortotheclass.Confirmands(andparents)areaskedto
makeConfirmationapriorityintheirspirituallife.
What will we do in the class?
Wewillplaygames,pray,readscripture,bepairedwithamentor,useart&writing
toexpressourjourney,eattogether,shareourfaithstories,writeaStatementof
Faith,andmanyotherthings.
Will we read the whole Bible as a part of the class?
No.ButConfirmandsareaskedtoread,TheStoryofGod’sLoveforYoupriortothe
firstmeetingonSunday,January22,2017.UponregistrationforConfirmation,the
Confirmandwillbegiventhebook.
Will there be work outside of class time?
Yes,therewillbesome“homework”foryoutopreparebetweenweeks.Thiswill
consistmostlyofreading,memorization,andminimalwrittenworkinthe“We
Believe”notebook.Also,eachConfirmandwillbeaskedtoparticipateinpacking
“BackpackBuddy”backpacks,oneTuesdaynightfrom6:00–7:00pmatCalvary
EpiscopalChurchinMemorialHall.
Will there be activities outside of the “regular” class schedule?
No,justtheretreatatCampNewHope,Saturday,Feb.18–Sunday,Feb.19,2017.
Does it cost anything to be in Confirmation class?
Noandmaybe.Classmaterialsareprovidedbythechurch.Fortheretreats,wemay
finditnecessarytoaskyoutobringalittle$tocovermiscellaneousexpenses.
What happens when the classes end?
Attheendoftheclass,theyouthareaskedtoconsidermakingapublicprofessionof
faithinChristJesusandjointhechurchasanactivemember.
Do I have to join the church at the end of the class?
No.Thisisapersonaldecisionthatyoumake,withtheguidanceoftheHolySpirit.
NoteveryonewhotakesConfirmationjoinsthechurch,althoughthemajorityof
peopledochoosetojoin.
What happens if I choose to join the church?
ConfirmandsarepresentedforaninterviewabouttheirfaithbeforetheSession,just
likeadultswhojointhechurch.ThentheConfirmandsappearbeforethe
congregationduringSundayworshiptopubliclydeclarethierfaithinJesusChrist
andbepresentedasnewmembersofthechurch.
When will the class be presented before the Session and congregation?

What does it mean to make a public profession of faith in Christ Jesus?
AsPresbyterians,weaskourmemberstomakeapublicprofessionoffaithby
answeringthreebasicquestionsoffaith:

What does it mean to be a church member?
