Used to protect components form too much current. Slows down the current. The resistance can be changed by twisting it Used to be able to adjust a potential divider/calibrate an analogue input A three legged variable resistor. Used to split voltage or just as a variable resistor Used to vary the voltage like in an amplifier volume control The brighter the light level the higher the resistance. Used to sense light levels. E.g. nightlight or street light The hotter the temperature the lower the resistance. Used to sense heat levels. E.g. automatic fan or heater, bath water sensor for kids
