Rock Cycle Project The purpose of this project is for you to gain a better understanding of the rock cycle. To do this, you will create one of the following projects related to the rock cycle. The project is to be completed in class. As long as time is used wisely, there should be enough time to finish the entire project during class time. Comic Life Rock Cycle This project involves creating a visual story of the rock cycle. Comic Life allows you to tell a story, which is exactly what the rock cycle is. The rock cycle is simply the story of how one rock changes into another through natural processes. Rock Cycle Album This project involves creating an album of a “Rock Star.” The rock star in this case is a fictional band created by you. The songs tell a story that dates back millions or even billions of years. The music of the band is sure to reflect the stress and pressure the band has undergone, and how these factors have caused a metamorphosis of the band over time. Story of a Rock You’ll laugh and you’ll cry in this story of a rock and its journey through the rock cycle. If you choose this project, you will be writing a story of a rock that spends its life traveling along the rock cycle. The path is unpredictable and sure to be full of many surprises. General Requirements Each project has some unique requirements, but the following requirements must be met for all of the projects: o Examples of all three rock types o Examples of all of the major processes of the rock cycle o Specific examples of at least one type of physical weathering o Specific examples of at least one type of chemical weathering Specific Requirements Comic Life Rock Cycle • Must contain text and pictures • Text should clearly describe what is happening at different stages of the rock cycle Rock Cycle Album • Must contain at least 10 songs related to the rock cycle • Must have a Band Biography section that discuses how the band has been through the rock cycle.
