the conducting repetoire for
2014-2016 SEASONS
TAN DUN, CONDUCTOR
The world renowned artist Tan Dun follows in the footsteps of his musical icons conductor/ composer’s Mahler and Bernstein, in that his composing guides his conducting and his conducting simultaneously shapes his composing. He has

multimedia performance, and Eastern and Western traditions. A winner of today’s most prestigious honors including the

“My icons are Mahler and Bernstein. I believe
conducting is part of my spiritual life. I learned
my conducting through composing and learned
composing through my conducting. That is why
music to me is such a dramatic journey and colorful dream in action and mind.”
