1. How did the Agricultural Revolution lead to the Industrial Revolution?
Technology advances such as the reaper and plow lead to an increase in the food supply and
population. There was a need for less for workers in agriculture due to mechanization.

The shift from making goods by hand to making goods by machine

Land, Labor, Capital, Entrepreneurs

Textile Industry
6. How was the English textile industries indirectly one cause of the American Civil War in 1861?
They needed more cotton so the South needed to grow more cotton which meant they needed
more laborers which generally were slaves.
7. How did the Industrial Revolution affect the size of cities? (Name 2)
Tremendous growth of population, inadequate housing, poor living conditions
8. In what ways did industrialization change living conditions in cities? (Name 2)
No sanitation/building controls, lack of housing, education, police protection, lack of running
water, heaps of garbage, etc.
9. Name 2 positive effects of the Industrial Revolution.
Jobs for workers, wealth of nations, fostered technological progress and inventions, increased
production of goods, etc.
10. How is life different today because of the Industrial Revolution?
World became more interconnected, mass produced goods, more leisure time, many people
suffer hunger due to food being produced for masses, pollution, overcrowding, menial jobs,
etc.
