Year 7 PE Homework You must understand the following topics of work in preparation for your PE exam which you will sit after you have done your fitness unit of work. 1) Warm up and cool down – What are they, why do we do them and what would you do in them? 2) Benefits of exercise – What benefits do we get from taking part in exercise, name 1 mental, social and physical benefit. 3) Pulse rate – What is it and name 2 places it should be counted from. 4) Prevention of injury – Name as many different ways as possible we can prevent injury when taking part in sport. 5) Major muscle names - You must be able to describe where the following muscles are found in the body: Quadriceps, hamstrings, gastrocnemius, abdominals, pectorals, gluteus maximus, biceps and tricep, deltoids, trapezius, latissimus dorsi 6) Immediate effects of exercise – You must remember the following effects and be able to explain why they happen: heart rate increase, deeper breathing, sweating, tiredness 7) Reasons for taking part in sport – List as many reasons people take part in sport and name one from each of the following categories: Social, Mental and Physical. 8) Health Related Exercise – Remember it involves the following 5 areas and be able to explain what each one is: Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Body Composition, Flexibility 9) 6 Methods of Training – List the 6 methods of training and for each one explain how it is done and a type of sportsperson it would be useful for. Year 8 PE Homework - You must understand the following topics of work in preparation for your PE exam which you will sit after you have done your fitness unit of work. 1) Skill Related Fitness – List the 6 areas it involves (ABC PRS) and explain what each one is. 2) Principles of Training – List the 9 areas it involves (SPORT FITT) and explain what each one is. 3) Long term effects of exercise – List as many long term effects of exercise as you can and explain why each one happens. 4) Major bone names – You must be able to find where the following bones are on the body – Cranium, Clavicle, Scapula, Sternum, Ribs, Humerus, Radius, Ulna, Carpals, Metacarpals, Phalanges, Ilium, Femur, Patella, Tibia, Fibula, Tarsals, Metatarsals, Phalanges 5) Antagonistic Muscles – explain what is meant by this term and give two examples of where they are found in the body 6) Fast Twitch and Slow Twitch muscle fibres – Explain both and state a type of sportsperson each would benefit. 7) Aerobic and Anaerobic exercise - Explain both and state a type of sportsperson each would benefit 8) Nutrition – List the 7 components of a balanced diet and name a food each is found in.
