Transcript
Barrier surrounding plant and
animal cells. Controls what
goes in and out of the cell.
Function
Cell Membrane
Rigid structure found on
outside of plant cells that
supports the cell and in turn
the entire plant
Function
Cell Wall
Uses energy from the sun to
turn water and carbon dioxide
into sugar (glucose). Found
only in plant cells.
Function
Chloroplast
Jelly like substance that
serves to that serves to hold
and move needed materials
throughout the cell
Function
Cytoplasm
Transforms chemical energy from
food into other forms of energy
needed for the cell. Found in both
plant and animal cells.
Function
Mitochondria
Contains the hereditary or
genetic material needed for
controlling the cell.
Function
Nucleus
Stores extra water in both
plant and animal cells.
Function
Vacuole
Do not have a nucleus and the
genetic material floats freely in the
cytoplasm. Unicellular members of
the Kingdom Archaebacteria.
Description
Prokaryotic Cell
Do have a nucleus and the genetic material
is found in the nucleus. Unicellular and
multicellular. Members of the Kingdoms
Eubacteria, Protist, Fungi, Plantae and
Animalia.
Description
Eukaryotic Cell
Cells QR Activity
Directions: Take out the puzzle pieces. Separate all of the “Pictures” from the rest of the pieces. Find the
correct “Function/Description” and “Cell Organelle or Cell Type” piece that match each “Picture”. Match
the three pieces of each puzzle. To check if you are correct you will scan the QR code that the three
pieces make (try to line-up the pieces of the QR code as closely as you can). If word(s) shows on your
device you are CORRECT; if nothing shows you will need to reevaluate your pieces to be sure they best
paired.
When your word or words comes up to show you are CORRECT then record the word(s) that comes up
next to the “Cell Organelle or Type” that it is associated with.

Explain Relationship Between Cell
Organelle/Type and QR Word/words
A cell membrane is like a gate because it allows
things to enter and exit.
A cell wall is like bricks on a house because it is a
rigid support on the outside of the structure
A chloroplast is like a transformer because it
changes light energy into chemical energy
Cytoplasm is like the environment, because it is
where the organelles are found and it provides
what the organelles need
Mitochondria are like power plants because they
take energy and convert it to other needed forms
A nucleus is like a command center because it
contains the information used to control the rest
of the system
A vacuole is like a storage tank because it holds
needed materials to be used at a later time
