The new five-floor building is devoted to approximately 40% research, 40% patient care, and 20% infrastructure. To date, $46 million has been contributed to the construction and renovation project by visionary individuals, corporations, organizations, and foundations. The Dean McGee Eye Institute Foundation (DMEIF) The Foundation was established in 1992 and is a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation supports research, education and patient care activities at the Dean McGee Eye Institute (DMEI). It is funded by contributions from friends, grateful patients, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations who give generously each year. These gifts help DMEI to carry out its mission to serve our community through excellence and leadership in eye care, education and vision research. Inspired by this experience, Mr. McGee joined the effort to establish an eye institute.
